Potionomics Is A Shopkeeping Game With Personality And Also A Deckbuilder – Demo Available On Steam Next Fest

Shopkeeping sims where you are the shopkeeper instead of the adventurer in some fantasy world is an established sub-genre on its own these days, but developer Voracious Games is bringing something new to the table in their upcoming game, Potionomics.

In Potionomics, you play as Sylvia who has inherited a run-down potion shop (plus debt) from her uncle, and you’re here to turn it all around. There is a potion brewing mechanic where you must make your own potions and then sell them.

Though most of the time you’ll be spending time during the buying and selling portion, as in here it becomes a game of cards. Play the cards right and you can haggle them to pay more than the suggested retail price, but take too long and they’ll leave without buying.

But what should set Potionomics further apart from the usual offerings of this sort of game is the presentation. The cast of characters is really animated, brimming with personality and charm despite not having any voice acting. It’s a visual novel in some ways, as you also get to spend time and hang out with other folks around this fantasy town, building relationships, and learning new tricks- i.e. get new cards for your haggling deck.

Potionomics currently has a demo as part of Steam Next Fest, which walks you through the first day. You get to try out potion brewing, haggle potions for sale and meet potential friends and enemies.

You can try the Potionomics Steam Next Fest demo here. Potionomics will be released on October 18, next two weeks from the time of writing, on PC via Steam.
