European esports talent agency Prodigy Agency has announced the first official season of The Prodigies, its CS:GO academy programme supported by Razer, CS.MONEY, Refrag.gg and Scope.gg.

Razer has been named the main partner of the project and will provide peripherals for The Prodigies. Meanwhile, other brands will provide skins, analytics and training. Prodigy Agency coaches and staff will also support the players. The selected players will receive wages, advice, access to coaching and training facilities, as well as exposure so that they can find a team after the programme.

Prodigy Agency is a known esports talent agency, founded by Jérôme Coupez. The agency is known for representing big names in esports, such as Mathieu ‘ZywOo‘ Herbaut and Dan ‘apEX‘ Madesclaire in CS:GO, as well as Tyson ‘TenZ‘ Ngo in VALORANT and Kacper ‘Inspired‘ Słoma in League of Legends.

Before the official launch, Prodigy Agency noted that there was an extensive testing phase after which seven players joined academy rosters of professional teams.

The public call for applications saw over 200 players express interest, which was then narrowed down to 50 players who participated in the trials. In the end, applications were filtered until there were six individuals remaining. The team consists of Sebastiaan ‘Acorn’ Wehnes, Timothy ‘tvs’ Sjöberg, Sébastien ‘SBT’ Sabbadin, Mihai ‘fNk’ Costache, Nolen ‘noleN’ Vida and August ‘Straxy’ Canavan.

The Prodigies will mainly compete in ESEA Season 42, but will also participate in other events.

Interestingly, Prodigy Agency noted that all of the players are free to leave at any given moment if they receive an offer from a professional team, meaning that the Prodigies roster might experience changes later in the season. The roster consists of European players from Sweden, France, Romania, Hungary and the Netherlands, all of which are between 16 and 20 years old.

Jérôme Coupez, Founder & CEO, Prodigy Agency, commented: “This is truly a ground-breaking project for the whole CS:GO ecosystem with the goal to give a once-in-a-lifetime chance for young and promising players, having their first salary and contract, and to be seen by all the professional teams.

“We are dedicating a lot of resources to support The Prodigies with Prodigy Agency but I’m also thankful to our partners who believe in this project and share our goal to support the young players.”
