Project Q officially confirmed by Ubisoft, registration for testing open

Project Q was leaked a few days ago with it being rumoured that it would be Ubisoft’s answer to Overwatch. Now, Ubisoft has confirmed that Project Q is real and it is indeed team battle arena title. However, the game is in its early stages of development so it is not expected to fully release any time soon. But, Ubisoft has confirmed that it will be running tests for Project Q, and people can sign up to for updates and the chance to participate in testing.

It does look like Project Q will be multi platform and multi generational. The website to register your interest to take part in testing for the game lists PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S as platforms that Project Q could be tested upon. Of course, with the game not expected to release for a while Ubisoft could end up dropping the last generation of consoles to focus on the current batch.

This is not Ubisoft’s first foray into trying to get a piece of the pie with multiplayer shooters. The battle royale Hyper Scape was released in 2020, but the game failed to gain much traction. It failed to capture audiences that were playing other battle royale titles. That led to Ubisoft announcing in January that Hyper Scape was being shut down. In fact, Hyper Scape will be shutting its doors on April 28th so there are a few days left to still get a match or two if you are curious. Time will only tell if Project Q will be the success story Ubisoft is looking for, or whether it flounders like Hyper Scape.
