PUBG Mobile Esports Gets a Complete Makeover for 2022

Tencent Director of Esports James Yang broke the news at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) by announcing the upcoming version 2.0 of the PUBG Mobile 2022 esports scene.

Creating a structure that provides enough opportunities for young talents to shine is a challenge that every esports scene has to face. For PUBG Mobile, players had limited opportunities, meaning two times a year, to show how they perform. In addition, not the entirety of the player base had access to these competitions.

Esports Format

The story completely changes for 2022. Throughout the whole year, aspiring players can try themselves to the PUBG Mobile Club Opens, Campus Championships, and a few third-party events.

Furthermore, the PMCOs now covers South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The best performers will be able to move forward to the next step.

Then comes the PUBG Mobile National Cups and Regional Cups. The eleven countries with the highest number of players will organize their own National Cups. In the meantime, players in the other eight countries will have access to Regional Cups. This time, performing above the best teams opens the way to the top level of PUBG Mobile Esports, the Pro League.

The PMPL now features an annual format, with the year being divided into two different seasons. However, teams in the PMPL do not have to fear a midseason relegation. The EMEA, MENA, and South Asia regions are now a part of the brand new PMPL Europe. Pakistan and Africa also get their own separate PMPLs.

Southeast Asia’s PUBG Mobile esports will now be under a franchised format, mirroring Japan and China. Two special events will also be organized in May and September, called the SEA Games and the Asian Games.

After the 2022 Spring Split comes the Midseason Championship, while the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) concludes 2022. Unfortunately, the total prize pool for 2022 PUBG Mobile Esports has not been revealed yet, aside from the news that it will be bigger than last year.
