Put your strategic skills to the test in Flying Soldiers

Prepare to take to the skies, to fly like never before as you take charge of the finest airborne squadron known to mankind. Just don’t expect to do it in Flying Soldiers on Xbox, as despite the name, the little group of wingless wonders you get to control here are as far removed from the flying squad as you could possibly get.

Flying Soldiers comes to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S after spending time on the storefronts of PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, to provide you with the chance to put your strategic skills to the ultimate test – helping navigate a small squadron of flightless birds to safety.

It comes from WildSphere (previously behind Oxide Room 104) and plays out as a tunnel runner, Flying Soldiers comes complete with no less than forty-five missions. Each one of these will have you helping a group of ‘soldiers’ make their way to an exit point, with all manner of obstacles, traps and more between them and their goal. Your task is to drop into place a series of objects, helping them navigate with ease.

You’ll need to consider many things in Flying Soldiers, not least the individual skills of each of your little birds. You see, without you, they are a bit useless and will just fall into whatever is in their way. Positioning them correctly via objects is the key to success here.

We’re not expecting Flying Soldiers to be a game that absolutely blows the competition away, but for a fun little aside from the usual madness, it looks a decent bet. We’ll let you know how it plays out via a full review soon.

For now you can grab the Flying Soldiers from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for £7.99. It’s on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam too.

Game Description:

Not everything is as it seems in this fun game, because these “flying soldiers” can hardly glide a few inches and they don’t exactly have the abilities to go into battle. So, it’s no surprise that, with squads made up of these “characters”, they wouldn’t be able to get themselves out of the mess they’re in. Their only hope lies in your tactical skills to help them advance. Spikes, traps, electric fences, and rings of fire are just some of the many dangers these daredevil soldiers must avoid over a total of 45 missions. You’ll find yourself with three types of birds with different skills, but even the boldest won’t make it through without your help. It’s not only about strategic placement of the limited objects available throughout the terrain. You also have to think about the soldiers’ positions and skills; timing their movements right; and how they interact with objects.
