Qiks Strategy Guide – Slice Through Blocks With These Hints, Tips and Cheats

Qiks is a game about leading a ball across a gridded level and cutting it up into chunks. It’s  going to be a pretty familiar arcade experience to some, but that doesn’t mean you’re not going to need help if and when things get a little bit tricky.

And that’s where this guide comes in. We’ve played a decent chunk of Qiks and discovered the strategies you’re going to need to take your game to the next level. Follow these and you’ll be slicing up levels with the best of them.

It doesn’t matter if you’re about to swipe for the first time or you’ve already skillfully dodged some enemy blobs, there’s going to be something here to help you out. These are the best hints, tips and cheats for Qiks.

Make a big move first

You’ve got your best chance for a big move at the start of every level, because your enemies have so much space to move around in. Try and cut off a massive chunk of the blocks in one fell swoop, then clear the rest in smaller chunks.

Protect your tail

If your tail gets hit while you’re trying to make a new section, you’ll die and have to watch a video to keep playing or start the level all over again. Look at where the enemies are, think about the direction they might be moving in and make the right decision.

You can trap when there are multiple enemies

If there are enemies at either side of the level, you can take one of them out if you play smart. Bisect the level and one of them is going to end up dead. It’s a great way to make things easier when you get closer to the end of the level.

Don’t push your luck

It’s better to make smaller, more careful moves as you approach completion. Mainly because it’s annoying to die that close to the end. Cut up tiny chunks of the level and make sure you get the win.

What are the coins for?

As far as we can tell? Nothing. They’re more like an end of level score than anything you can actually spend. With that in mind, there isn’t much point watching the videos to get more of them – just take what you’ve got and move on.
