After a dominant 131-11 Game 1 win to open their best-of-7 series, the Philadelphia 76ers look to hold home court in Game 2 when they host the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors were beaten up and beaten down with their own style of basketball, and will try to regroup, though they’re expected to be down three regulars Monday.
It’s part of the reason the visitors are 7-point underdogs when this one tips off at 7:30pm ET from Wells Fargo Center, in a game that can be seen live on TNT.

Injury Report
Toronto will undoubtedly have to make adjustments from Game 1, but Nick Nurse will likely need to be creative and find his magic deeper down his bench.
A favorite in the 2022 NBA Rookie of the Year odds, Scottie Barnes suffered a left ankle sprain when he was stepped on by Joel Embiid. He was enjoying a sparkling playoff debut, with 15 points, 10 boards and eight dimes before going down. Thad Young sprained his thumb when diving for a loose ball.

Gary Trent Jr, who struggled with a 2-for-11 night shooting for nine points, is suffering from non-COVID illness. While they are listed as game-time decisions, Nurse called all three doubtful for Game 2.
Raptors Betting Analysis
The good news for the Raptors is that there’s nowhere to go but up.
Toronto wasn’t able to get anything going in Game 1, and their strengths were used against them.
Fred VanVleet on Game 1 loss: “We are a young team, let’s not forget that. I know we played well and got hot towards the end of the year, but it was a good wake-up call for a lot of guys, a good first experience to understand what it takes.”
— Josh Lewenberg (@JLew1050) April 17, 2022
The second-best offensive rebounding team in the regular season, the Raptors grabbed just seven on the night despite missing 42 shots, including just two in the first half. In fact, the 76ers, ranking in the bottom-half of offensive rebounding, grabbed 10.
Toronto led the league in turnover rate, which helps them get out and run — they rank third in fast-break points — but they forced only three turnovers all game. And it was the Sixers who were running, outscoring the Dinos 29-10 in fast-break scoring.

Still, it’s just one game, and it’s highly unlikely Fred VanVleet will pick up two fouls in the first minute of play and foul out. He was one of four Raptors starters that scored in double digits, paced by Pascal Siakam’s 24, to go along with seven assists and three boards.
OG Anunoby also went for 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
As a team, they shot 48.8% from the field and 40% from three, both respectable figures, but not when the defense couldn’t stop anyone. Philly shot 51.2% from the field and 50% from deep.
76ers Betting Analysis
It’s hard enough to contain Embiid and James Harden. When their supporting cast goes off, it’s basically death.
That was the case in Game 1, as Embiid, one of the favorites in the 2022 NBA MVP odds, went 5-for-15 for 19 points and 15 boards, while Harden scored 22 points and 14 assists.

Second-year man Tyrese Maxey was a man on fire Saturday night, pouring in a game-high 38 points, including a 5-for-8 mark from downtown. The team’s second-leading scorer was Tobias Harris, who finished with 26 points, six rebounds and six assists, while also going 3-for-5 from deep.
The 7th-best 3-point shooting team in the regular season, the Sixers were locked in from deep, drilling 16-for-32 in the contest, a crisp 50% clip.

Even if Embiid didn’t have his usual dominant performance, Toronto doesn’t have anyone that can go toe-to-toe with him defensively, so multiple defenders are either en route to help or watching him operate,
If the other players can make Toronto pay for that attention like they did in Game 1, Philly could turn this into a very short series.
Raptors vs 76ers Prediction
Toronto traditionally struggles at the start of a playoff series. They’re now just 5-17 in franchise history in playoff series openers.
They’re also one of the best bounce-back teams in the league, going 20-13-1 ATS following a loss (19-15 straight up). Philadelphia is 30-21 straight up after a win, but just 23-28 ATS.
If Toronto injuries weren’t so severe, I’d almost pick the Raptors to win straight up. Instead, lock for this to be a far closer contest where Philly probably escapes with a W.
The Pick: Raptors +7 (-110)
