Resident Evil 4 Remake Changes: No QTEs, Side Quests, New Enemies

The much-anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming soon, and additional details are emerging about the changes and improvements being made to the game.

Resident Evil 4 follows recurring series protagonist Leon Kennedy as he attempts to rescue the U.S president’s daughter, who has been kidnapped by cultists in rural Spain. Previous remakes in the series by Capcom, including Resident Evil 2 and 3, have received positive attention from critics and fans, driving up hype for the new release.

The original game was released in 2005 and has been regarded as one of the best games in the long-running survival horror series. Its third-person camera perspective influenced many future games in the genre, such as The Last of Us.

According to GameInformer, Capcom is making changes and additions to the Resident Evil 4 Remake. These include, in addition to technical updates and visual improvements, new weapons, enemies and side quests. Resident Evil 4’s Remake will also reportedly lack the QTEs, or Quick-Time-Events, in the original game, a change that may come as a relief to players frustrated by such events.

From what we’ve seen so far, Resident Evil 4 is shaping up to be another successful addition to the Resident Evil series, following up on 2021’s critically lauded Village. Resident Evil 4 Remake releases in March 2023.
