It had to happen. After the horror of Resident Evil 2 and 3, Resident Evil Village now has a mod that will dial up characters’ facial animations.
Thanks to modder FluffyQuack, you can watch Lady Dimitrescu, Chris Redfield, The Duke and every other character distort their face in some hugely off-putting ways. In essence, this PC mod amplifies the amount of movement involved in animating characters’ faces.
So when, during the vanilla game, Lady Dimitrescu purses her lips slightly, with the mod she thrusts them out about 5cm from her face. When a character blinks, their eyelids distort to the point where they overlap their cheekbones. It’s disturbing stuff but, at the same time, very, very funny, more so than the original Resident Evil 2 facial mod.

So how do you expose yourself to this horror? You can watch the mod in action on YouTube, or just check out one of FluffyQuack’s videos below. Other YouTubers have picked up on the mod and are creating their own nightmares, too.
If, on the other hand, you want to get the mod itself, you’ll need to join FluffyQuack’s Patreon. But £1 a month is surely nothing compared to the sheer entertainment value you’ll get from replaying Village with this magnificent mod installed.
