Resolut1on to take one year break to deal with burnout

Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok announced his decision of stepping away from the competitive scene for the entire 2021-2022 Dota Pro Circuit.

Last seen at HellRaisers, with whom he fought through the upper and lower divisions of the 2021 DPC, Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok is one of the most accomplished Ukrainian players. His career features a marvellous Cinderella run at TI6, where he reached the grand finals with Digital Chaos, and also a surprising top eight finish at TI7 with Team Empire, for which he stood in on the last minute as their carry player couldn’t secure the US visa.

Over the years Reso played for the likes of OG and Virtus.pro and was one of the very few CIS players to venture outside his region and play in NA with VGJ.Storm, Forward Gaming, DC and J.Storm.

However, the nine years long continuous chase for a spot at The International is taking a toll on him and he will take the next competitive year off to “recharge and learn how to live every day without running after results,” as he stated in a TwitLonger post. “My professional burnout happened coz of multiple unsatisfactory results and my focus being purely on getting them. So now the first thing that I wanna do is work with it and understand in which direction l will move forward,” Resolut1on added.

Through the past DPC year, Resolut1on took the carry position at HellRaisers, and although the roster looked stellar on paper, the team relegated in the lower division for the second season and were forced to close qualifiers for TI10, were they got eliminated in the lower bracket finals by Team Empire.

Reso was still able to attend TI10, but as an analyst for the official Russian broadcast and has also been a part of the RU team for the All-Star matches on The International 2021 stage. In the post event shuffle, HellRaisers lost not only Reso, but also Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk, who is now a free agent, Bakyt “Zayac” Emilzhanov, and Zaur “Cooman” Shakhmurzaev.
