Riot Games Brazil inks five-year deal with Santander

Games publisher Riot Games has announced a five-year deal with bank Santander. The agreement will cover the whole official League of Legends esports scene in Brazil.

Santander’s debut in CBLOL is scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd, during the finals of the current split between Red Canids Kalunga and paiN Gaming. Besides having its brand displayed during the broadcast, the bank will also appear as the presenting partner and will be responsible for the match’s MVP prizing.

Other actions and brand activations are expected for the next split of CBLOL, to be held in the second half of 2022.

As part of the bank’s esports strategy, Santander has partnered with a variety of esports events and organisations. Most notably the bank sponsors esports organisation FURIA and the Brazilian Free Fire League (LBFF). Due to its new partnership, the bank now has its brand attached to two of the main competitions in the country.

Esports Insider says: 2021 had one winner when it came to the Brazilian bank race within the esports scene: Itaú. However, in 2022, Santander is looking to step up. The press release states that the bank looks to be ‘recognised as the gamers’ bank in Brazil’, which surely indicates that the bank has even bigger esports intentions.
