San Francisco 49ers Sign Tevin Coleman, Kurt Benkert

The San Francisco 49ers have signed two players to their practice squad to replace two injured starters. Quarterback Trey Lance and running back Elijah Mitchell are both slated to miss significant time due to injuries. Kurt Benkert and Tevin Coleman have been signed as replacement potentials.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.

Coleman has been in the NFL since 2015, when he was drafted in the third round by the Atlanta Falcons. He spent four seasons there, followed by two seasons with the 49ers, finally playing the 2021 season with the Jets.

In his previous stint with the 49ers, Coleman played in 22 games (12 starts) over two seasons. He rushed 165 times for 597 yards and six touchdowns. He also had 214 receiving yards and one additional receiving touchdown while there.
