San Lorenzo vs Boca Juniors Match Analysis and Prediction

Boca Juniours make a trip to Estadio Pedro Bidegain to take on San Lorenzo in matchday seven of the Argentine Primera Division on Saturday.

While the hosts have failed to win in their previous two matches, Boca Juniors will be looking to bounce back from being knocked out of the Copa Libertadores through a penalty shootout.

San Lorenzo are currently 15th in the Argentine Primera Division standings, with the club sitting just three points above the relegation zone.

That adds major pressure onto each fixture as a defeat at the weekend has the potential of seeing them move closer to danger, something they will be keen to avoid.

At the same time, a victory could see them leapfrog Saturday’s opponents, which would not only strengthen their position in the table, but it would help provide some distance between the bottom four.

After a draw against Tigre, Ruben Dario Insua’s side were the defeated by Barracas Central despite an equaliser from Adam Bareiro, which they only held onto for two minutes before they conceded again.

Meanwhile, Boca Juniors are in a relatively stronger form, as they are currently sitting five points adrift of the top two, though they have struggled in recent times.

The head into the game off the back of four consecutive matches without a win in all competitions, which is something they will be looking to improve upon.

There is only a three-point gap between themselves and third-placed Platense, with a victory at the weekend having the potential of lifting them to fourth should other results favour them.

Sebastian Battaglia’s side were held to a goalless draw in their most recent game against Corinthians in the Copa Libertadores, which led to a penalty shootout that the lost, with that being the third straight game where they failed to score a goal.
