Frogwares’ remake of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened has received its first reveal trailer, coinciding with its Kickstarter campaign launch. Though the goal was about $71,140, the project has already been funded with $78,701 (and rising). At the time of writing, the campaign still has 29 days left to go.
Set in 1884, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is essentially a crossover between the famous detective and H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. As Holmes investigates disappearances in Europe and the United States, his investigation leads him to a dark cult worshipping Cthulhu. Given Frogwares’ experience with Lovecraftian titles like The Sinking City, it should be interesting to see how the remake fares.
Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is rebuilt from the ground up with Unreal Engine 4. Along with improved graphics and animations, it also features new content and an expanded story. It’s out in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
