Shin Megami Tensei – where to start? A beginner’s guide

The story follows a high school student who wanders into the world of “Da’ath”, where they are fused with a mysterious man to become a “Naobino”, a forbidden being, and gets to battling in a war between gods and demons. The game ending can diverge in many ways, depending on choices you make in the pursuit of the truth of the world. The world of Da’ath is a completely desert landscape, with over 200 demons to battle. Some of the demons are familiar and others are newly drawn by Masayuki Doi, including beasts that are the size of mountains or giant birds flying overhead.

Is Shin Megami Tensei better than Persona?

In our review for Shin Megami Tensei V, Dom wrote: “Shin Megami Tensei V is a classic JRPG that leans heavily on the series’ past. It’s nonetheless engaging, interesting, and consistently draws you further into its spiritually-charged narrative. While it’s still not as relatable as its sublime Persona spin-off series, it is a welcome addition to the pantheon of Switch RPGs.”
