Shopify Rebellion Signs Former Luminosity Roster

Shopify Rebellion Signs Former Luminosity Roster

It has been less than a month since the Canadian esports organisation Luminosity Gaming made their big announcement of leaving Valorant esports. The main Valorant roster was officially dropped on June 2nd, but the team did stay together in order to finish their run in the VCT NA Challengers 2, where they made it all the way to the Playoffs.

Shortly after the tournament ended and the curtains closed, Shopify Rebellion swooped in and signed the young and promising ex-Luminosity lineup in a giant package deal.

Up until this point, Shopify Rebellion dabbled in VCT Game Changers and actually achieved some incredible results in the recent VCT 2022: Game Changers NA Series 1, where they finished 2nd right behind the current ruling champions, Cloud9 White. They’re now also gearing up for an official entry into the main Valorant Champions Tour circuit, where they hope to shake the NA scene.

Conquering the VCT Game Changers

Shopify Rebellion has been an active esports organisation since 2020, and in the short span of two years, they slowly began taking over games such as Rocket League, Halo, StarCraft 2 and now Valorant.

They stepped onto the Valorant stage by signing the Built Butter roster and then introducing rob-wiz as the coach just a few months later.

It didn’t take long before the Shopify Rebellion name started popping up in all the major VCT Game Changer Series tournaments, and the team managed to complete the first season with some incredible results. They finished 3rd in the VCT 2021: Game Changers NA Series 2 and then came even stronger during VCT 2021: Game Changers NA Series 3, where they finished 2nd.

While things were going great in the VCT Game Changers, Shopify Rebellion kept an eye on the main Valorant Champions Tour season and noticed Luminosity’s rise in the region, but also the turbulent times within the organisation. Once Luminosity benched their roster, Shopify made a shrewd move and immediately signed this promising roster under their banner.

The Perfect Timing

Shopify Rebellion couldn’t have found a better timing to sign Luminosity Gaming. Not only did they get to keep the whole team and preserve their team synergy that was clearly working great, as evident by their recent performance in the VCT Challengers 2, but they also immediately gained entry into the Valorant Champions Tour.

The ex-Luminosity squad is currently sharing the 5th spot with Cloud9 in the overall VCT NA Circuit Point standings and will thus have an easier time qualifying for future VCT esports events.

Shopify will now fight on both fronts in Valorant esports and hopefully continue winning on both sides. The ex-Luminosity squad has demonstrated to be capable of beating even the toughest of opponents in the North American region. Under Shopify Rebellion’s flag, they’ll most likely be even stronger.

If you wish to see the new Shopify Rebellion roster in action, you won’t have to wait long. You’ll be able to watch them live in the VCT NA Last Chance Qualifier, where they’ll have the chance to directly qualify for the final event of the season, the Valorant Champions.
