Fancy playing as Shredder, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ arch enemy? Nickelodeon All Star Brawl has you covered.
Let’s face it, it’s fun playing as a baddie and, as of right now, you can do just that in Nickeledon’s Super Smash Bros-a-like. As revealed by IGN, the masked, cloak wearing foe has been added to the game’s roster. And, even better, he’s absolutely free.
Does that mean all future characters will be free? No. But it’s a good way to drum up interest in the title. In our review we called Nickelodeon All Star Brawl “one of the better Smash-type games out there”, though we also pointed out that ultimately, it would live or die based on its community.

Aside from Shredder, Nickelodeon All Star Brawl’s latest patch also adds a brand new free stage, based on the Double Dare game show. That’s the American version of Double Dare, not the UK version that, presented by Peter Simon, aired in the 90s. Still, you can expect gunge to figure into proceedings.
If you’ve yet to tackle Nickelodeon All Star Brawl it’s available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch and PC. Or if you can wait, Warner Bros will release Multiversus, its own free Brawl-style fighter, later this year.
