Sony, Nintendo, and Xbox will apparently not be a part of E3 2023

E3 is losing big names just months before its return to a live physical event.

It appears that E3’s first physical event in four years has just hit a major stumbling block, according to IGN. Per their sources, it seems that Sony, Nintendo, and Xbox will not be taking part at the Los Angeles Convention Center this coming June.

While 2023 was seen as the big comeback year for E3 after missing out on the last four years, it comes as no real surprise that the big three have pulled out of the yearly video game event. Sony has already passed on appearing at E3 altogether over the past few years while Nintendo has already sat out on a press conference slot for a decade, despite having a showroom floor presence in 2019.

As for Microsoft and Xbox, they have slowly pivoted towards hosting their showcases that coincide with E3. If at all, we can expect Xbox to have something going on alongside E3 again this year. And with Bethesda now part of Microsoft, don’t expect to see anything from the game dev come June.

This will also be the first E3 with a new organiser. Usually, it’s the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) that runs the event but for 2023, it will be ReedPop. If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s because these are the same guys who organise PAX, NYCC, and Star Wars Celebrations.
