Super stylish shooting awaits in Severed Steel

There’s no doubt about it, Severed Steel looks classy, stylish and utterly addictive.

Available to purchase and download today on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, as well as on PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, Severed Steel is a hyperkinetic first person shooter in which you’ll be found utilising a fluid stunt system, working through highly destructible voxel environments and bearing witness to some bloody brilliant bullet-time. Oh, and you’ll be doing all this with just one arm.

Yep, in Severed Steel the protagonist that you play as is a one-armed sharpshooter, intent on taking down anything and anyone who may get in their way. Their name is Steel, something that is extremely relevant and fitting for a game in which severity is at the fore of the action.

Coming from Greylock Studios and having been picked up by Digerati, Severed Steel has gone down great guns (pun intended) over on Steam, gathering up more than a thousand reviews and running a 93% positive vibe. Now it comes to console, playing out on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch with everything that was previously available on PC – well, nearly everything as whilst there is no level editor, we’ll get a rather lovely curated selection of user-created levels added in – Xbox Series X|S and PS5 only.

What is there is wholesome though. The Campaign will be front and centre, Firefight is accompanying it, as is a New Game + mode. Expect no less than forty-two levels, twenty-seven weapons, five arm cannons (yep, we’re sold at ‘arm cannons’ and a wicked selection of twenty-two mutators, modifying the game at will.

With all that in place it’ll be up to you to help Steel dodge bullets and leap off walls, to go slide-kicking their foes and to partake in some seriously frenzied firefights. The best thing about it is that no two fights in Severed Steel are the same, whilst accessibility levels are high with a ton of customisation included.

In all, you’ll find the following key features in place…

  • A unique fighter: Play as Steel, a nimble, one-armed sharpshooter on a mission. There is no reloading – pick your shots well and be ready to pry a loaded weapon from your enemies’ cold dead hands
  • Stylish combat: Dodge bullets, leap off walls, slide kick, throw weapons – do whatever it takes to come out on top in intense and frenzied firefights
  • Fully destructible environment: Pepper through plaster with sharp 4.7 mm rounds, punch through thick concrete with .50 cal slugs, or make big holes in things with your arm cannon
  • Dynamic AI: No two battles are the same thanks to dynamic, unscripted, squad-based AI
  • Firefight Mode: Chase high scores and fast times for leaderboard acclaim in this arcade-styled mode. Features 42 levels, each with their own sub-challenges, and over 20 unlockable, game modifying ‘Mutators’
  • Campaign Mode: Blast through six compact story chapters as you battle against the forces of nefarious mega-corporation, EdenSys
  • Accessibility: A range of adjustable settings for features such as difficulty, visuals, audio, controls, navigation, and more

Severed Steel will set you back £20.99 from the Xbox Store, playing on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch too. And don’t forget that PC version kicking around on Steam
