Suspension and Fine for Genesis Global

By Simon Wright Jan 28, 2022

Genesis Global Limited, the operator that are responsible for online casinos Casino Cruise, Fun Bet and Genesis Casino have experienced somewhat of a bad week, with news coming out of the UK Gambling Commission on Thursday this week, that they have been the recipient of a seven figure fine.

Back in July of 2020 Genesis Global Limited had their UKGC operators licence suspended by the Commission, whereby at the time they cited a number of compliance issues and a pending review of the practices of Genesis Global Limited to take place.

The news released by the UKGC this Thursday 27th January 2022, announced the conclusion of the investigation into the operator, who had the suspension of their licence to operate in the UK lifted back in October 2020.

The upshot of the investigation is that Genesis Global Limited have been subjected to a fine amounting to £3,800,000, alongside a warning and a condition added to their licence which demands of the operator further auditing.

Commenting on these developments, the UKGC’s Executive Director Helen Venn said: “All gambling businesses should pay very close attention to this case.”

“The Commission will use all tools at its disposal to ensure consumer safety and that extends to stopping a business from actually operating. Failing to follow rules aimed at keeping gambling safe and crime-free will never be a viable business option for gambling businesses in Britain.”
