Team Liquid Changing Their Roster in LCS 2023 Season
After an unsuccessful season at LCS, Team Liquid has decided to change the roster ahead of LCS 2023 season. The news was confirmed by the Liquid owner, Steve Arhancet, on Twitter.
A Shaky Season
Team Liquid started the LCS 2022 season with a very competitive roster that looked one of the best on paper. Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau, Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen, Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, Steven “Hans sama” Liv, and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in were the announced roster before the season that had all the fans hyped. However, things did not go as planned for the organization. Firstly, Team Liquid finished the LCS 2022 Spring Season at the third spot and failed to get past Evil Geniuses in the LCS 2022 Championship Lower Bracket Round 3, shocking most of the lol betting fans after their upsetting performances.
Team Liquid had a decent run at LCS 2022 Spring Regular Season. They showed their strengths and finished the regular season at the highest place possible with 14 wins and 4 losses. However, they were beaten by 100 Thieves in the playoffs and then got swept against Evil Geniuses, losing their chance to represent North America at MSI 2022. Lastly, Team Liquid’s summer run was even worse. They picked up 12 wins and saw 6 losses, finishing the regular season of LCS 2022 Summer at the third spot. They once again got beaten by Evil Geniuses and failed to qualify for Worlds 2022. TL’s recent performances affected LCS Summer betting a lot as they were the favorites in many games.
The Changes are Confirmed
Steve Arhancet decided to be fully transparent about the current situation and the upcoming plans of the team. He confirmed that the roster will be different from now for sure and he also talked about how they managed to get the roster together before the season. Arhancet mentioned he convinced the stakeholders on increasing the budget and forming a roster that could win the league without facing any problems. He also stated that he is working closely with every player and staff that is currently working under the TL roof to find the best solution for both parties.
“The roster will be different. Doubling down on some of the areas where we’ve seen incredible success so far, and also the opportunity to build players using the Team Liquid infrastructure rather than this concept of building superteams which has always kind of worked for us to a certain degree but I think times are changing.” said the owner, Steve Arhancet.
There are many different scenarios that could happen. Bwipo can move back to Europe and join a LEC team or Bjergsen could retire again and return to coaching, maybe for Liquid. Every player on the roster is very precious for many teams in the world and it will also be exciting to see which teams they will be joining for the upcoming season.
Signing the best players in every lane does not always work and Team Liquid will be trying a different strategy for the upcoming season. LCS odds of 2023 may differ according to TL’s roster and of course, they will change throughout the season after seeing their performance.
