Improving the Partnership

Honda is one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world and the company’s aim is to grow in the gaming industry. According to the partnership, the team will compete under the “Team Liquid Honda” name. Moreover, they will also have the logo of their naming sponsor in front of their official jerseys. The partnership will also cover the academy team as their name has also been changed. Originally, both parties agreed on a partnership deal back in 2019 and Honda provided the team with cars as they were their official automobile partner. This year, they have improved their partnership with a bigger step. The sponsorship was announced one day before the start of the 2022 LCS Summer Split.

The Players Will Be Given New Cars

According to the press release, Honda will provide Team Liquid with a Honda HR-V compact SUV and Civic Hatchback, both branded as the team. The cars will be given to the players and the coaches. The all-new “Honda Lounge” within the Team Liquid North America HQ will be available for the Liquid athletes. Honda Lounge is a place where the athletes can recharge and prep for tournaments and appearances. TL’s social media accounts will have the new name and the Honda logo. Keep in mind that Liquid is one of the most-famous esports teams in the world and they reach a huge audience, especially. on social media. The companies have also created a Snapchat Lens for fans where they can virtually try on the new jersey using AR and share it with their friends.

The new jersey will be out soon and fans can pre-order it from the Team Liquid Store.

Aligning our organization with a legacy company like Honda helps to fuel our ever-evolving fan experiences and competitive advantage in LCS and beyond. Their passion for the esports ecosystem and shared values around inclusivity and innovation, make them a valued partner and we look forward to the expanded relationship,” says Steve Arhancet, Co-CEO, and Co-Owner of Team Liquid.

Liquid’s LCS Dominance

Team Liquid is one of the most successful League of Legends teams in the North American region. They won the championship 4 times and even reached the MSI 2019 Grand Finals. Lastly, they won the LCS 2022 Lock-in tournament and finished the LCS 2022 Spring Regular Season at the top of the standings. However, they failed to dominate the region in the playoffs, getting swept against Evil Geniuses in the Lower Bracket Final. Their League of Legends roster consists of: Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau, Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, Steven “Hans Sama” Liv, and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in.

Team Liquid will be the second LCS team that has a naming partnership. In January 2022, Immortals announced a multi-year deal with Progressive. Besides, TSM also had a naming partner, FTX, but Riot Games did not allow the well-known team’s partnership as it was relevant to cryptocurrency.
