Two sides that topped the league last season but find themselves in mid table now will be facing each other in one of the hotly anticipated LCS clashes on Sunday. League of Legends betting is made for matches like this one, with little to choose between the two sides.

Team Liquid have been good despite having a better Spring season

Team Liquid head into this match off the back of a loss. It’s not all gone to plan for last season’s third best side in the playoffs but the LoL odds are firmly in their favor heading into this match. This is a side that likes to come off the blocks quickly and focus on the towers in the first couple of minutes as highlighted by 72.7% first tower rate. They keep this up all game, as the average of 6.9 towers killed per game suggests along with the average time duration of 30 minutes and 52 seconds.

This approach should be particularly interesting given Cloud9’s towers have been quite vulnerable this season, with 10.2 killed per game. Team Liquid have also enjoyed a fairly good KD ratio all season of 1.34, which isn’t a surprise considering mid laner, Bjergsen, has had an extraordinary KDA of 7.61 all year. It’s now a case of kicking on from here to challenge the big boys in the league.

“I think it’s natural to have a period where you underperform,” Liquid’s Hans Sama told Inven Global.

“We performed very well for our entire Korean bootcamp, then we came back for the LCS Summer Split and performed very well in our two weeks of practice. We played well on stage in the first week and I would say we played well in this past week of practice, too. I guess we started falling off in these last two stage games, so we’re just going to have to pick up for next week and work hard.

“I don’t feel much stress because while my mind is currently occupied with questions like, ‘Why were these two games so hard?’ I know that we’re very good and we showed that the whole week. I just need to trust the team more and myself, too. When I do things well, I think we are the best team. Like I said, I want to be the carry of the team. When I’m at the center, people play around me more and I think I’m very good at converting an early game lead into being a mid-game teamfight monster. Any time I can do that, we might be the best team in the LCS. I just have to work very hard on myself in terms of those values that I hold highly for this split.”

Cloud9 have found some form but this test will be difficult

This is a bit of a must win for Cloud9 and the games don’t get any easier. They have an in-form FlyQuest before this match and Team Liquid are no pushovers. The big questions marks around Cloud9 are if their strategy is working.

This is a side that likes to go about things slowly with a first blood and first tower rate of 36.4% and games that take a little under 34 minutes to finish. Part of the reason they might be struggling a little this season is because they’ve thrown up so many different line-ups all year. Only Jungler, Flabber, and top laner, Fudge have been names on that teamsheet for the most part. Do their credit, they’ve been good when asked to come on with KDAs of 3.72 and 4.9.

They head into this match with two wins on the trot and will be quietly confident that they can cause some serious damage to Team Liquid. Things might finally be clicking into gear after a slow start to the season. This shouldn’t be surprising that likes to take things slow.

Team Liquid vs Cloud9 Predictions

This is a pretty difficult LoL prediction because it’s a question of form and fixture. Cloud9 are in good form and they’re not likely to be threatened by Team Liquid even though the latter are clear favorites. This is the sort of run that usually helps sides overcome a dip but we think Team Liquid will have too much for them at the moment.

There is pretty significant difference in their KD ratios and we can’t see Cloud9 shaking it all up. Cloud9 should qualify for the playoffs but this game is unlikely to be the one that helps them make it to that place. Picking Team Liquid promises a decent reward.
