Tennis Betting News and Predictions for 2023 Grand Slam

Sports betting on women’s pro tennis has been difficult in recent years as there didn’t seem to be a clear pecking order, making even the Grand Slam events tough to handicap. However, 2022 saw the rise of a dominant player on the women’s side – Iga Swiatek. Women’s tennis also bid farewell to legendary Serena Williams, while the men’s side saw Roger Federer say goodbye. The next generation is already coming, though, as such younger players as Coco Gauff, Holger Rune and Carlos Alcaraz are not just improving but are ready to compete at the game’s highest level. Does this mean the end of the dominance of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal on the men’s side? We will see. Take a look at some of our Tennis betting predictions for next year’s Grand Slams as well as other insights.

Tennis News: 2023 Grand Slam Predictions

Coco Gauff and Ons Jabeur will each win a Grand Slam

Obviously, Iga Swiatek became the dominant name in WTA events. Coco Gauff advanced to the final at Roland Garros, and Ons Jabeur made the final at the U.S. Open and Wimbledon. Neither of them won, as Swiatek won two of those titles and Elena Rybakina won the third, stopping Jabeur at Wimbledon. Jabeur is ranked #2 in the world, and Gauff is five slots behind her, but now that both of them have experienced the pressure of a Grand Slam final, they are poised to do better this time around. Gauff’s skills will likely see her back in a final at the French Open, or she could also advance in New York in front of her home crowd, while Jabeur has shown that she can contend in any event.

Rafael Nadal will become the first man to win 23 Grand Slam titles

Nadal became the first man with 21 Grand Slam titles…and then the first man with 22. Even when injuries threaten to derail him, he has shown the ability to drown out the pain and play at an elite level. He is the defending Australian Open champion, although the lifting of Novak Djokovic’s travel ban into Australia (due to his refusal to get a COVID-19 vaccination) will make that a tough title to win back-to-back. He is the heavy favorite to win his 15th title at the French Open, which would give him 23 – and tie him with Serena Williams for singles titles at majors.

Novak Djokovic will tie Roger Federer’s Wimbledon mark

Djokovic won at Wimbledon this year to give him seven titles, although that title has a bit of an asterisk as the All England Club banned Russian and Belarussian players because of their governments’ support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and so the governing bodies of tennis stripped the event of its points. That also gave Djokovic 21 Grand Slam titles. He comes into 2023 as a four-time defending champion, and a win this year would give him five in a row and tie him with Federer for the career mark of eight titles on the venerable grass.

Men’s tennis will see at least one new Grand Slam singles champion

Carlos Alcaraz won his first Grand Slam singles title at the U.S. Open and vaulted atop the international men’s tennis rankings. The other three Grand Slams went to Djokovic and Nadal, but Nick Kyrgios, Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune and Casper Ruud all advanced to finals. For the most part, the next generation learned that Djokovic and Nadal, 35 and 36 years old respectively, are still extremely difficult to beat in a best-of-five set format. There are also such established stars as Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, but expect another breakthrough title from a player in tennis’ newest generation.
