There may still be another couple of weeks left in 2021, but Pokémon Go trainers already have an event to look forward to next year, and that’s the January Community Day. As detailed in a blog post, the loveable Spheal takes centre stage, and encounters with the Pokémon are more frequent.
However, there’s more to the Pokémon Go Community Day than encounters with Spheal – though being able to look into those adorable eyes is more than enough for us. If you complete Spheal’s evolution tree, which is Sealeo, then Walrein, the final stage Pokémon, can learn icicle spear and powder snow.
Of course, as with any Pokémon Go Community Day event, this one includes a special research story known as The Spheal Deal – while we approve of this name, we also would have been happy with Keeping it Spheal. It costs $1/£0.75 to take part, with tickets going on sale at a later date.
