The PS Plus free games for June 2022 leak includes God of War

While Sony are building up to the PlayStation Plus relaunch around the world, the PS Plus free games for June 2022 have seemingly leaked. What are the latest rumours? When will the official announcement come? Let’s break it down.

When will PS Plus June 2022 games officially be announced and released?

Traditionally PlayStation Plus games have always been announced on the last Wednesday of ever month at 4.30 PM UK time with the games going live the following Tuesday morning, but the days of the week have fallen in such a way that the first Tuesday of June is the 7th, and the preceding Wednesday is 1st June. A rare situation!

What will the PS Plus June 2022 games be?

The June 2022 PS Plus leak has come from a different source than usual. The most regular and reliable source has been French deals site Deallabs member billbil-kun, but they’ve decided to hold off until 31st May, just the day before the official announcement. So here comes Spanish site Areajugones, whose sources tell them that the games set to be given away to subscribers are:

Are these games any good, then?

Well let’s start with the obvious: God of War is the must-play game in this selection of three games. One of the biggest PlayStation exclusives of the last generation, it reboots the series with Kratos having grown older, started a new family and matured as a father figure to his son. Now with a pantheon of Norse gods to clatter through, while looking after his son Atreus, it drew plaudits from across the games industry.

It’s a great time to play or replay the game, what with the sequel God of War Ragnarok coming out later this year – rumoured to be in September. The disappointing thing, though, would be that it’s been included in the PS Plus Collection for PS5 owners since November 2020, not to mention that it’s soon to be included with the new PS Plus Extra tier.

Beside that we have Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. In our review, Jason said, “This might be the first Naruto game in a long time that does something new, blending anime with class-based online battles. The idea may seem a little strange but it works well, and it would be great to see Bandai Namco build off this with other anime franchises in future. Shinobi Striker is well worth your time if you like the Naruto series and even worth trying out if you just want a new multiplayer experience to get lost in.”

Finaly, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a Super Smash Bros. style brawler that will surely be a great one to put on the telly for your kids.

Can I still download the May 2022 PlayStation Plus Games?

Absolutely! The PlayStation Plus games for May included a bit of footie with FIFA 22 (with a bonus FIfA Ultimate Team pack), the roguelike Tribes of Midgard and co-op roguelite Curse of the Dead Gods. You have right up until the June selection of games goes live to grab them.

What’s the whole PlayStation Plus relaunch thing?

PlayStation Plus is changing in June, as Sony combine their long-running PS Plus subscription for online gaming and other services with the game subscription library of PS Now under one banner. Rolling out region-by-region through June, PS Plus will soon have three tiers, with the basic PS Plus Essential tier exactly the same as what PS Plus is today. PS Plus Extra then adds a catalogue of PS4 and PS5 games into the mix, while PS Plus Deluxe and Premium (depending on your region) adds older PS2, PS1 and PSP game emulation, and game streaming for PS3 and other titles.
