The Sims 4′ High School Years Expansion Adds A Lot More Life To Teen Sims

The Sims 4 is adding something new with the announcement of its new expansion, High School Years. As the name suggests, the expansion is focused on Teen Sims and their life in school.

With the expansion, you can follow your Sims to school, Copperdale High and not only attend classes, but form lifelong friendships, join extra-curricular activities, or even other teen shenanigans before graduating into adulthood.

School hours will see teens have lunch, take weekly exams and even can be scolded by the principal. Extra-curricular activities your teen Sims can join include activities like football (the American one we assume), cheerleading, chess and computer clubs. There can also be events the teens can join like the science fair.

You can also have see your teen Sims having go through young love. They can have crushes, or be crushed after a breakup. There’s also a new hotspot for dates: Plumbite Pier which is an amusement park that includes a haunted house, a tunnel of love, a ferris wheel and a photobooth.

Interestingly, puberty will be better reflected as well with the inclusion of body hair. Those with the High School Years expansion can have Sims groom and trim their body hair, but body hair in general will be added to the base game as well, free for every player.

Expect to see the mischief skill be more in use, as teens can now pull new pranks, most of which are done at school.

Teen Sims can also hang out in bedrooms and can sneak out at night after curfew. Sims in general can sit crossed-legged on a bed and have pillow fights.

There will be more fashion options, and High School Years will have a collaboration with Depop, a real-life fashion marketplace app, for Sims to find new threads. Some of these clothing items are made by real-world Depop sellers on the actual app. And your Sims can sell outfits they curate and be an influencer, because why not, it’s a thing now.

Lastly, teen Sims can go (or choose not to go) to prom. You can go solo or with a someone or with the gang of friends. There’s a lot of planning you can do for prom night. And of course, you also have graduation day, which you can also plan or choose to skip entirely.

Previously, teen Sims go to school off-screen and you have little to no interaction on what’s going on. For those who are playing a generational save where you see these kids growing up, this is a lot of good content to spice up the life sim game.

The Sims 4 High School Years will be coming later this month on July 28 to PS4, PS5, PC (Origin, Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
