The Sims 4 Getting Official, Curated Mod Hub

The Sims 4 has a large modding community making mods and custom content (CC). And at the recent The Sims Summit livestream, it was announced that there will be an officially endorsed destination for players to download them.

The Sims is partnering with Overwolf to use the Curseforge mod manager as its official hub for CC. This is a curated hub, with a group of creators already set to have their CC and mods available on the platform when it launches later this year.

Existing CC, released previously on other sites, are allowed to be uploaded to Curseforge, as long as it’s “within the guidelines provided by Overwolf and The Sims”.

The Curseforge mod hub for The Sims 4 won’t be replacing any of the other destinations where CC and mods are hosted, but this one comes with an endorsement by the game developers that it’s safe to download, and should in theory also be easier for players not familiar with The Sims CC and modding to try mods.

With The Sims 4 going free-to-play, there will be more than ever players that want to give the long-running life sim game a go, but maybe find the ridiculous amount of DLC to be overwhelming. Mods and CC are free to download, and are a great way to add more to the base game’s experience.

Though it’s unlikely you’ll find the NSFW mods to be uploaded on the official, endorsed mod hub. And there are plenty of those- so it’s good that this announcement isn’t disrupting the modding community.

A teaser of the next The Sims game, codename Project Rene, was also shown at the same livestream.
