The Wild Rift: Horizon Cup is almost here

With the Wild Rift: Horizon Cup quickly approaching, we look at the recently confirmed tournament format and schedule before the teams begin their battle.

The last information we conveyed about the upcoming Wild Rift: Horizon Cup confirmed the full roster of 10 teams heading to the event. Now, with a little over two weeks remaining until the event gets underway, we have confirmation of the tournament schedule – which includes the Group Stage bracket. Horizon Cup, the first international Wild Rift tournament, is set to kick off its Group Stage on November 13th, with the entire event culminating in a spectacular Grand Finals showdown on November 21st. As an addition, the Horizon Cup will be the first ever Wild Rift tournament to officially utilise the game’s Ban-Pick Mode.

With that in mind, lets take a look at the teams, their groups, and the format of the tournament.

The Group Stage

The Horizon Cup will see its 10 teams split evenly into two groups, Group A and Group B, with the teams fighting against one another in a single round robin style format. All matches in this stage will be a best-of-three, with the bottom two teams from each group being eliminated, while the top three advance into the knockout stage. The split between the two groups was determined by a few factors, with no two teams from the same country being in the same group, as well as an effort to maximise regional diversity and representation within the groups.

The Knockout Stage

After five days of grueling Group Stage action, the remaining teams will feature in a single elimination bracket, which will see best-of-five series all the way through until a best-of-seven grand finals. The top teams from each group will move straight through into the semi-finals, while the remaining four teams will have to battle through the quarter finals in hopes of reaching their goals.

The Wild Rift: Horizon Cup is an offline tournament, meaning that all 10 teams will be playing from the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore for the duration of the event. With a total of $500,000 on the line, as well as the chance for the teams to write their names into the history books as the first winners of an international Wild Rift tournament, Horizon Cup is set to be absolutely amazing.
