Tyler Glasnow Signs Contract Extension with Rays

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow has signed a contract extension. The new contract for Glasnow will be worth $5.35 million in the first year of a $30.35 million total extension through 2024. This new deal will delay Glasnow entering free agency, as he was originally slated to enter it at the end of the season.

USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale reported the news via Twitter on Friday.

Glasnow was originally a fifth round selection in the 2011 MLB Draft. He joined the Rays in 2018 and has been in Tampa ever since. In his career, he has a win-loss record of 20-20 in 65 starts and a career ERA of 4.04.

Although he hasn’t pitched in 2022 due to injury, he is a valued member of the Rays rotation worthy of an extension. His 2021 stats sat at five wins to two losses, with an ERA of 2.66 in 14 total games started. Glasnow added 123 strikeouts last season.
