USFL’s DeJuan Neal Signs Deal with Commanders

A second player from the USFL has now signed with an NFL team. New Jersey Generals defensive back DeJuan Neal has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Washington Commanders. The other USFL player to sign with an NFL team was Christian Sam, a linebacker who played for the Tampa Bay Bandits and New Orleans Breakers.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news on Thursday afternoon.

Neal previously went undrafted out of a Division II school, Shepherd University. He joined the XFL before it went under, then the USFL in 2022, which got him noticed by NFL squads. In his USFL tenure, he gathered 16 total tackles.

He had previously spent time with Washington’s NFL franchise, but never played in an NFL game and was released. His XFL squad was the New York Guardians and he also spent time with The Spring League, playing with the Jousters.

Stay tuned for more breaking NFL content, including preseason moves, contract updates and more news from every team.
