VCT Champions 2021: Who will go through the group stages?

VCT Champions Berlin groups have been drawn. Only two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the playoffs. We took a closer look at who might come out on top.

The draws for the VCT Champions Berlin have concluded, and the four groups are filled equally with four of the sixteen teams competing in VALORANT’s biggest event ever.

The question is who from each group will go on to the next stage of the competition? We throw in our analysis of each group to see who will advance to the playoff stage.

Group A

The teams in this group have had the chance of playing in a Masters tournament, with three of them competing at the recent Berlin edition and one other team in Iceland for the second edition Masters. While all four teams have been making waves in the VALORANT scene, Team Envy is the one that has recently made the biggest stride, as they came runner up at Masters Berlin.

Acend, meanwhile, thrived in the lower tier events running up to Champions and even defeated Gambit Esports at Red Bull Home Ground.

X10 Crit and Keyd Stars are the two wildcards of the bunch, as they represent the best of the best from their respective regions (Brazil and Southeast Asia) and they may just pull a surprise going into the playoff stage.

Gosugamers prediction: Team Envy & Acend will move to the playoff stage.

Group B

This is the group that many will be looking out for. One of the four teams here will be in the top rank list of teams many will root out for. Sentinels, with SahZaM helming the roster, have been named as the best VALORANT team in the world currently – especially with TenZ in the roster.

The question is – will they repeat their run in Iceland, or Berlin; in the latter, they were defeated in the quarterfinals. They also have the disadvantage of having not been playing in any competition since Berlin ended.

The other three teams are in the middle of the pack of the 16 teams here, with Furia being the new kid on the block as they qualified through the Last Chance Qualifiers for South America.

Even so, with the penchant of the game pulling surprise rabbits out of the hat, the three teams of Furia, KRU Esports, and Team Liquid, should not be discounted from going onwards to the playoffs.

Gosugamers prediction: Sentinels and Furia will move to the playoff stage.

Group C

Group C is also another group to look out for, as the most recent Masters winner – Team Gambit – is in it. They might be able to bring the momentum they saw in Berlin back to, well, Berlin as the Champions starts.

Another team to look out for is Team Secret, consisting of the roster from Bren Esports. They missed out on their spot in Reykjavik only because of visa problems and had to concede their place to Paper Rex. This time, they are ready to show their worth as one of the best teams in Southeast Asia.

Team Vikings and Crazy Raccoon will need to work hard to try and break the middle-ground barrier to win their group stage.

Gosugamers prediction: Gambit and Team Secret will move to the playoff stage.

Group D

Group D is truly the wild card group, as two of the teams here are newbies in the VCT major event stages. Full Sense and Cloud9 Blue qualified through the Last Chance Qualifiers. While Fnatic was the runner-up for Masters Reykjavik, their performance since then has not been as stellar as one would have hoped.

Vision Strikers had the crown as one of the best VALORANT teams in the world, but their performance on the world stage leaves one wanting for more, with nary a world title in their grasp.

We can only wait and see how this group will be performing in the Champions Berlin.

Gosugamers prediction: Vision Strikers and Fnatic will move to the playoff stage.

VCT Champions Berlin

Champions Berlin will start on 1 December where 16 teams will be playing in the biggest VALORANT event of the year with a prize pool of $1,000,000. The winner will grab the trophy and be crowned the Champion of VALORANT Champions Tour for 2021. Stay tuned to the latest news and info from the tournament on our hub HERE.
