VCT Champions 2022: LOUD overcame Zeta as the second LATAM winner in the group stage

The team beat the Japanese in just over two hours in a clean sweep.

Day two of Champions Istanbul is just about to end, and we have the first winner for Group B. The two teams that matched up this time around are LOUD and ZETA DIVISION. Both come in as the top teams of their respective regions before heading into Champions – and here they will settle who is the better team heading into the Playoffs.

The match started on Ascent, where ZETA took the initiative and led the game with a 2-points lead over LOUD by the end of the first half. However, LOUD turned the table around and grabbed the lead back from ZETA and trampled the advantage the Japanese team had, and easily ended the map 13-8 to their favour.

On Fracture, ZETA again led the match by the end of the first half it was the same 2-point lead. Everything fell apart once the second half started though as LOUD came from behind and grabbed the advantage away from ZETA and ran with it to win the map easily by round 22, winning the map 13-9, thus giving them the overall win 2-0.

With the win, LOUD is proudly flying the LATAM flag at the top of Group B. ZETA meanwhile goes straight to the bottom of the group, and also in the elimination match, waiting for the outcome of the match between OpTic Gaming and Boom Esports to see who they will face securing their place in the competition.

VCT Champions Istanbul is happening from 31 August until 18 September in Istanbul, with the Playoffs set to be played in front of a live audience at Volkswagen Arena from 9 September 2022.
