Unibet – Race Comments:

Race 1:
AMERICAIN ANGEL (8) Hit the line well when 2nd last time at Sale and third up today. Might take a while to wind up but should be hitting top gear in the straight. Contender. LOVE TAKES TIME (12) Won narrowly two runs back at Moe but rising in grade. Having second run back from a spell. Should go well. MAID OF IRON (5) Got the cash when winning two runs back at Geelong and dropping in class. Marginal hopes. SABRE PRINCESS (10) Rocketed home into 2nd last start at Ballarat and goes down in weight. Second up. Don’t disregard.

Race 2:
SIRILEO MISS (1) Won narrowly last time at Caulfield but will have to carry more weight. Very tidy this preparation winning 3 from as many attempts. This race looks suitable and is hard to overlook. FOXY FRIDA (2) Made considerable ground when 2nd last run at Caulfield and having third run back from a break. Finishes off strongly. Will go well. ZING (3) Good show to place 2nd last time at Randwick but racing in stronger company today. Second up from a spell. Appears as a winning threat. RUBY TUESDAY (4) Was much too speedy in front to win by 2 1/4L last time at Randwick but up in class. Should be going forward early. Expected to fight out the finish.

Race 3:
MAGIC CARPET (3) Finished strongly when 4th last start at Caulfield and was a debutant last start. Appears well in this. SATIN LOVE (17) Snitzel 2yo trained by Anthony Freedman & Sam Freedman having first start. Strong competitor. KIKI EXPRESS (1) Won narrowly last start at Caulfield and was on debut last time. Watch market moves. DIAMOND CITY (10) Annabel Neasham trained 2yo by Ilovethiscity on debut. Has placed in all previous barrier trials. Represents value at the price.

Race 4:
MYSTERY SHOT (4) Hit the line well when 3rd two runs back here but hoping that the added weight won’t hurt. Possesses very good finishing speed. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks like value. SALTPETER (13) Showed promise when winning last run at Caulfield but facing a stronger grade today. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Strong form this campaign winning 2 from 4 attempts. Can make a claim. FIFTH POSITION (8) Showed a good turn of foot when 3rd two runs back at Caulfield and dropping weight today. Has a good record second up. Definite winning chance. JUST BENJAMIN (9) Displayed good finishing speed when 3rd last start at Moe and having third run back from a spell. Should land a nice spot just off the speed. Can threaten if right today.

Race 5:
VIANELLO (1) Got the upper hand late when winning last run at Caulfield but up in class. Use betting as a guide and is worth watching. NEW YORK BABY (2) Did enough to win three runs back at this course and can save some energy from the gate. Don’t leave out of trifectas and watch market moves closely. DECENT RAINE (3) Charged home into 3rd last run at Randwick and gets some weight relief. Consider an each way bet. STAR OF CHAOS (4) Was all too good winning last start at Morphettville but facing a stronger class today. Very competitive this preparation. Value bet.

Race 6:
MALKOVICH (8) Finished on top three runs back at Caulfield and second up from a break. Displays good tactical speed. Can dominate and win. WRITTEN BEAUTY (10) Went out at $6 and finished 5th last start at Kembla Grange. Should bounce back today and freshened up. Should get a lovely cart into it from just behind the leaders. One of the main dangers. STARRY LEGEND (15) Produced an eye catching run when 3rd last run at Moonee Valley and third up. Shows good early pace. Could take beating. VARDA (11) Made considerable ground when 2nd two runs back at Warwick Farm. Third up from a spell. Could run into the placings.

Race 7:
RIOT AND ROSE (2) Game effort to win last time at Horsham but racing in stronger company. Having second run back from a break. Expecting to settle just off the pace. Include in chances. BERMADEZ (9) Won by a big margin last start at Sale and shows good early pace. Having second run back from a spell. Contender. HICKOK (15) Won narrowly two runs back at Ballarat and gets some weight relief. Should enjoy a cosy run off the pace. Very strong each way claims. MY BOY BIRMINGHAM (5) Gave them all something to chase to win by 3 1/4L last start at Benalla and displays good tactical speed. Has been a model of consistency since resuming from a spell. Don’t dismiss.

Race 8:
ELUSIVE EXPRESS (1) Solid effort when winning two runs back in the Manifold Stakes but stepping up in trip. Will be trying to topple them late. Classy enough for this field and is one of the major players. WILLOWY (2) Was fighting out the finish when winning last run in the Wakeful Stakes and going well this campaign. Likely to race off the speed. Should go well. DAISIES (3) Nice run when placing 2nd last start in the Wakeful Stakes but rising in grade. Backs up quickly today. Has to be included. BISCAYNE BAY (4) Displayed good finishing speed when 3rd last start in the Ethereal Stakes but up in class. Blinkers on could be an important change. This field suits.

Race 9:
GLISTENING (2) Was $3.4 and finished 2 1/4L from the winner at Moonee Valley last run on a good surface and carrying more weight than last time. Not out of it. SERADESS (3) Got the upper hand late when winning two runs back at Moonee Valley. Will be around the mark at odds. SONNET STAR (4) Nice show finishing 2nd last start at Randwick but goes up in weight. Second up from a spell. Don’t underestimate. NAJMATY (5) Only whacked away when 12th last time at Randwick but freshened up. Gets back and needs luck. Place preferred.

Sportsbet – Race Comments and Selections:

Race 1:
AMERICAIN ANGEL has returned with two solid 2nds. She did well 1st up on a bottomless track at Bendigo before her fast finishing 2nd on Sale Cup Day. Getting within 2L of them in the Gr 1 Australasian Oaks looks the right kind of form line for this. The lightly raced LOVE TAKES TIME could be the danger. She didn’t have the best of luck 1st up in a handy class 1. There’s winning form out of the race. 1700m will suit. PARISIAN DANCER was good at Ballarat in a strong BM 64. MAID OF IRON wasn’t far away in a better race last time. RURU, SHOWTIME LADY and MY DELIGHT next with different form-lines.
Selections: 8. Americain Angel (Top Tip), 12. Love Takes Time, 6. Parisian Dancer, 9. My Delight

Race 2:
The score is 2-0 in the SIRILEO MISS/FOXY FRIDA battle this prep in favour of the former. Think the latter can get one back. FOXY FRIDA was terrific from the back last time while SIRILEO MISS was getting a good run on speed. Concede there’s very little between two very good mares. ZING’s return was pleasing. Her 1600m record is good. BELLA TIARA ran on well 1st up behind two good mares who would be competitive here. She’ll be fitter for her 2nd up run at 1600m. RUBY TUESDAY will be on speed with SIRILEO MISS making her own luck. All of these look capable wet or dry.
Selections: 2. Foxy Frida (Top Tip), 1. Sirileo Miss, 3. Zing, 5. Bella Tiara

Race 3:
Big field and plenty to learn about these 2yos. KIKI EXPRESS has jumped out impressively since her good debut win. She had jumped out well down the straight prior. MAGIC CARPET was green and good in the same race. She jumped out well down the straight, prior, also. That form gets a test (after writing) on Cup Day. CAVALLA upset the well backed Contemporary here 1st go. That straight experience is a huge advantage. The Begg stable won this last year. His two representatives have shown talent. FOXY GOLD was my pick of the new-comers but had no real knock on most of them from trials/jumpouts.
Selections: 1. Kiki Express (Top Tip), 3. Magic Carpet, 13. Foxy Gold, 2. Cavalla

Race 4:
No stand-outs here. Like the set up here for DJUKON staying at 1800m with blinkers on and getting to Flemington. All three runs back this prep have been at MV. He was luckless and good 1st up, solid in a strong JRA Cup 2nd up and ok last time in a race made for the leader. If MYSTERY SHOT can run a strong 1800m, his Seymour Cup form is the right form. SALTPETER gives Cup Day a miss for this race. He’s flying and a good light weight hope again. FIFTH POSITION and RAINBOW THIEF come via the same Geelong race with chances. FLASH AAH, ADELAIDE ACE, JUST BENJAMIN and HASSELTOFF next. Could go on…
Selections: 5. Djukon (Top Tip), 4. Mystery Shot, 13. Saltpeter, 12. Rainbow Thief

Race 5:
Chris Waller has a strong hand with two impressive fillies. ESPIONA was a brilliant trialler before her equally brilliant debut win. Concede it was a maiden but happy to be with her and James McDonald from a good draw. ROOTS doesn’t draw as well (pattern pending) but she looks the goods too. While Fangirl was in open air, she was getting blocked. With that in mind, gate 18 might be a blessing. DECENT RAINE and RIDUNA come via the same race as ROOTS with a chance. NEW YORK BABY, OUR HEIDI, BALLYNORA and STAR WALTZ all ran well in the Crockett for different reasons. ROMANY ROCKS is a talent.
Selections: 16. Espiona (Top Tip), 9. Roots, 3. Decent Raine, 5. Our Heidi

Race 6:
If MALKOVICH brings it to the straight, he should be going very close. His 1000m form, wet or dry is strong. He was just no match for the talented Oxley Road last time who had 4kg less. Conced that horse has been beaten since but still think it’s the right form. WRITTEN BEAUTY has mixed her form in 2021. She’s had a stable change. She’d be very dangerous if she found her best. STARRY LEGEND was very good on speed at MV in a race set up for run on horses. PREZADO gets back to the straight. DEFIANT DANCER has good 1st up form. KALKARNI ROYALE if it’s soft goes in. Wary of PARSIFAL.
Selections: 8. Malkovich (Best of the Day), 10. Written Beauty, 15. Starry Legend, 3. Prezado

Race 7:
Terrific series final for the country horses. It’s tough to sort out as all 20 of them are in form. From the top, I’ll be considering RIOT AND ROSE (untapped, he looks a good horse), MY BOY BIRMINGHAM (untapped too), REAL SENSATION (wherever RIOT AND ROSE finishes, he can’t be far away), BERMADEZ (has proven he’s a great 1st up horse, if he brings it 2nd up he should go close), CASSIUS (maps for a good trail), TYPHOON HARMONY (past two say he is flying), PUCKAPUNYAL (weather forecast in her favour), HELLO BROADCAST (plenty of upside after two good runs back) and HICKOK (can he run 1600m?).
Selections: 14. Hello Broadcast (Top Tip), 2. Riot And Rose, 6. Real Sensation, 12. Typhoon Harmony

Race 8:
Tough! The Maher/Eustace stable could pull off the Derby/Oaks double with BISCAYNE BAY. She didn’t have the best run in the Ethereal but like the way she kept finding the line. Just 3rd up at the 2000m it was a good sign for 2500m. MORRISSETTE was good in that race too. She’s out of a full sister to a VRC Derby winner. Of course, 1st and 2nd in the Ethereal, DAISIES and GLINT OF HOPE can’t be ignored. DAISIES ran well in the Wakeful but WILLOWY was too good and that certainly brings her right into the race. ELUSIVE EXPRESS is a good filly by a Melbourne Cup placegetter. TIZ MY BAY should stay.
Selections: 4. Biscayne Bay (Top Tip), 11. Morrissette, 2. Willowy, 1. Elusive Express

Race 9:
A VERY FINE RED’s fast finishing 5th behind Home Affairs looks a great form-line for this race. Forget the last run where she led. Presuming she gets a quiet ride here, she looks a great chance. SPINNING strips fitter for the two runs back. She had no room at a key stage last time. SERADESS runs well every time she goes to the races. She didn’t have much luck last time either. XTRA GEAR looks dangerous coming back to the 1100m. She showed plenty in those maidens. ROBODIRA deserves a change of luck in Melbourne. NAJMATY, ASHEMA, FLYING EVELYN and NICCOLITE all hopes in a wide race.
Selections: 11. A Very Fine Red (Value Bet), 15. Spinning, 3. Seradess, 17. Xtra Gear

BlueBet – Bluey’s Tips:

Race 1:
Good even contest but AMERICAIN ANGEL (8) appeals as the one best placed. Excuses on testing ground first up and then improved sharply at Sale last time. Third up last prep she should have finished close by a useful winner at Caulfield and she wasn’t far away in the Oaks over in Adelaide thereafter. That all reads well and she looks to have been set for this on her home track. LOVE TAKES TIME (12) is the biggest threat. She ran well first up and now looks better suited getting onto the bigger track. SHOWTIME LADY (4) rolls forward and she is racing well enough to take some pegging back. SABRE PRINCESS (10) and MAID OF IRON (5) are others to consider in a race that runs deep.
Selections: 8. Americain Angel (top tip), 12. Love Takes Time, 4. Showtime Lady, 10. Sabre Princess

Race 2:
SIRILEO MISS (1) skipped the Empire Rose to take her chance here in the small field where she stands out on form. Been terrific stringing wins together this prep. Form around her has worked out really well. From behind her last time FOXY FRIDA (2) must have a decent shot of turning the tables. Meets Sirileo Miss on better terms and could improve again third up. She’s twice a winner here at Flemington and makes plenty of appeal. ZING (3) was good fresh and looks set to run well again along with RUBY TUESDAY (4) who can lead and stick on.
Selections: 1. Sirileo Miss (top tip), 2. Foxy Frida, 3. Zing, 4. Ruby Tuesday

Race 3:
MAGIC CARPET (3) was wide and very new around Caulfield on debut but closed well to be within a couple of lengths at the finish and shapes as a big improver now at start number two. Race experience can be so important. Magic Carpet was behind KIKI EXPRESS (1) at Caulfield and with that form working out the pair look to hold the aces on exposed form. From the jump outs; SATIN LOVE (17) has looked sharp and is bred to be very smart. With the gun jock up she looks sure to be popular. DIAMOND CITY (10) trialed well in Sydney and FOXY GOLD (13) beat one that ran really well here on Tuesday in her jump out.
Selections: 3. Magic Carpet (top tip), 1. Kiki Express, 17. Satin Love, 10. Diamond City

Race 4:
MYSTERY SHOT (4) got back and never got into the race in the Seymour Cup. That was the case with most of those around him in that race. Run prior was terrific here and the form has worked out really well with first and second going on to win Group Twos over the carnival. FIFTH POSITION (8) was never in the race first up from a break. Another wide draw means he could end up in a similarly awkward spot but he is fitter and we are yet to see the best of him in Australia just yet. Best at bigger odds can be GRINZINGER ALLEE (11) who was okay first up and is better suited here. Nice chance on him home track. Right race for ADELAIDE ACE (3) off a little freshen up and JUST BENJAMIN (9) could be an improver third up. Has won third up in the past.
Selections: 4. Mystery Shot (top tip), 8. Fifth Position, 11. Grinzinger Allee, 3. Adelaide Ace

Race 5:
Clear favourite will be ESPIONA (16) who created a big impression on debut. Nice performance there and looks sure to develop into a smart filly. Runs for the Melbourne Cup winning connections, Waller and J-Mac, and following them hasn’t been a terribile idea this week! Going to be very popular. DECENT RAINE (3) was behind them and their filly Fangirl in the Reginald Allen at Randwick last time. That was a strong race. The time was good and we saw the value of it through the winner on Saturday. Think 1400m can suit NEW YORK BABY (2) now and she draws to get a soft run. OUR HEIDI (5) doesn’t. She is going to need some luck but she has upside and talent.
Selections: 16. Espiona (top tip), 3. Decent Raine, 2. New York Baby, 5. Our Heidi (scratched)

Race 6:
MALKOVICH (8) just found one better resuming at Caulfield. Big run off a break all the same and his second up record says he can build on that now. Two from two second up from a break and doubt he has to step up much – if at all – on the return to be winning this. VARDA (11) ran a poor one at Caulfield but pulled up with excuses there. Can be a sharp improver this time around and looks a good winning chance. New yard for WRITTEN BEAUTY (10) but she will be looking to produce old tricks; winning down the straight at the Carnival. She has a hope along with STARRY LEGEND (15) and EXPRESS PASS (1) who are both likely to run well.
Selections: 8. Malkovich (top tip), 11. Varda, 10. Written Beauty, 15. Starry Legend

Race 7:
Big and hugely competitive, as you would expect, but it could be that BERMADEZ (9) is a level above them. Always well regarded, and showed talent, but his Sale return suggested that he has come back ready to put it all together now. Hammered them there and won like a horse that had plenty more to offer. This is a target for him and he can land the valuable pot. RIOT AND ROSE (2) has also been set for this. Kept his winning streak going when resuming at Horsham and should come here fitter and ready to give it a big shake. HICKOK (15) was no match for Bermadez at Sale but the win over Flying Mascot at Bendigo makes for good reading. MY BOY BIRMINGHAM (5) and LEGEND OF ZORRO (1) are other last start winners set to go well.
Selections: 9. Bermadez (top tip), 2. Riot And Rose, 15. Hickok, 5. My Boy Birmingham

Race 8:
Oaks without a real standout. Liked the step forward that DAISIES (3) took out to 2000m in the Ethereal and she backed that up with a strong effort under penalty in the Wakeful last time. She has a very solid look about her and with the in-form jock up looks like getting every chance stalking a steady pace. The Manifold here has been the strongest bit of form for the fillies. ELUSIVE EXPRESS (1) won that well, improving up to a mile that day, and she is bred to get further again. 1000 Guineas hasn’t worked out well but she was strong there and looking for further. Nice sense of timing about WILLOWY (2), going to a new peak in the Wakeful, and that is always a top reference for this. DOUCEUR (6) was good there as well and has a hope.
Selections: 3. Daisies (top tip), 1. Elusive Express, 2. Willowy, 6. Douceur

Race 9:
NAJMATY (5) has been freshened up for this after failing on the wet out to 1400m last time. Easy to excuse that. She was okay the run prior and terrific when she was arguably stiff not to beat Gimme Par over this trip in the Quezette. She appeals as much as any. A VERY FINE RED (11) comes off better races. Been chasing top colts up in Sydney and has done enough. She has a good hope back against lesser fillies now. SERADESS (3) has been very consistent in similar through three runs this prep and should go well again. Firmer footing may help ROBODIRA (7) who was plain at the Valley but is better than that. GLISTENING (2) had an excuse last time. In the mix.
Selections: 5. Najmaty (top tip), 11. A Very Fine Red, 3. Seradess, 7. Robodira
