Possible GTA 6 Locations

The locations behind GTA games heavily dictate how the game’s story and multiplayer play out. From GTA 5’s return to Los Santos to now a possible return to not just Vice City, but a modern version of it, there are plenty of locations that the next GTA game could end up in.

While a map hasn’t been confirmed yet in regards to where players will be visiting for GTA 6, there have been plenty of discussions and speculations amongst the game’s community as to where it could be – and some supposed leaks that claim to confirm it.

With that, here’s what we know about the location for GTA 6, and what currently available leaks and rumors point to as the next direction for the series.

Vice City

Starting off back in 2018 with the Project Americas leak, which detailed a huge world alongside other features, there have been plenty of leaks to look at for GTA 6 moving to Vice City.

At first, a revised version of Vice City didn’t seem to be an idea according to leakers, but with a rumor from 4Chan claiming that the whole state of Florida, perhaps maybe just Miami, would be involved in the next GTA game, that’s changed, as Vice City is modeled after Miami, Florida.

The Vice City revision would be taking place in a modern-day imagining of the area, while also supposedly being as big as GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined!

In addition to all of this, the Vice City leak was further speculated at following a screenshot and more rumored details arising afterward. Shared on Imgur, the leak showed off more detail in comparison to the previous leak in 2018, including a mock map!

This was all tied back into a job posting that Rockstar Games made, looking for a VFX artist that would “help immerse the player in a believable world.” This link was made by GTA YouTuber MrBossFTW.

Thanks to this picture, and others, players can make out much more detail, including a road layout.

The Vice City rumors continued, with GTA players on Reddit claiming through leaked screenshots that there is much more to see, possibly confirming the idea of a revisiting of the city. While nothing’s confirmed, it’s a potential candidate for the location of GTA 6.

Liberty City

Similar to Vice City, a return to Liberty City isn’t completely ruled out, especially after a Liberty City scene appeared on a Rockstar dev’s profile. It was GTA 4’s Liberty City remade within GTA 5’s version of the RAGE engine.

This very well could have been a test, or perhaps a scrapped scene from GTA 5’s singleplayer, but in the past, Rockstar has talked about a sort of megacity in which all of the franchise’s previous cities would be involved in the game.

This puts into speculation that if this vision were to come true it’d undoubtedly include the likes of Liberty City as well as other previous cities from the franchise’s history.

South America and Asia

Apart from these rumors and leaks, there has been other speculation that GTA’s next setting could be based on somewhere outside of North America entirely, another continent, such as South America or Asia.

This speculation came from Dan House, co-founder at Rockstar Games, stating that moving GTA to a different country or era is an option, “At the moment, it feels like GTA’s DNA is contemporary-ish, American-ish, English-speaking-ish, because that’s what it has been… that doesn’t necessarily limit it to those.”

While this is far from solid information, it could give us insight into the thought process at Rockstar as to where GTA is heading, and the next location that could soon be the setting for GTA 6.
