Writer Mary DeMarle Leaves Eidos Montreal For New Role At BioWare

Mary DeMarle, previously of Eidos Montreal, has now joined BioWare as the developer’s Senior Narrative Director.

DeMarle led the writing behind the two Deus Ex prequels, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Deus Ex Mankind Divided, as well as the recent Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, which won the 2021 The Game Awards for Best Narrative.

She announced her new role over at LinkedIn (as spotted by ResetEra member Fiery Phoenix).

BioWare is working on the next Dragon Age game, now titled Dragon Age Dreadwolf, as well as a new Mass Effect title. After a series of misses with Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem, the previously RPG powerhouse will need the help they need to rebuild.

Eidos Montreal meanwhile was recently sold off to Embracer Group, alongside various other Square Enix studios operating in North America. The sale also includes IPs like Deus Ex.

But fans of Deus Ex, or any of Eidos Montreal’s work, should temper expectations of the next work now that one of their key writers has left to take on the new role at BioWare.
