Xenoblade Chronicles 3 release date is now in July!

Nintendo has confirmed the release date for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will now be on 29th July – that’s actually 1-2 months earlier than planned!

A new trailer has revealed a little more of the game’s story, unveiled the mighty Ouroboros forms that you’ll encounter and become through the game, and shown off the enhanced combat system in the game.

Previously expected to release in September 2022, Nintendo has brought the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 forward by at least a month, indicating that Monolith Soft has managed to get ahead of schedule with development and that Nintendo see this as an opportunity to jump ahead of the typical game release crush of September and beyond.

The world of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has been torn apart by war and strife, and the only way to defeat the foes is to journey across the vast-looking open world and battle for survival and what’s right. Starring Noah and a group of his friends, you’re on the run from bot of your home nations, the people chasing you seemingly possessed or controlled – at least that’s the impression I got from the fact that they have one glowing eye.

Along the way, you’ll also encounter the Ouroboros, daemonic creatures that Noah and chums somehow link to, learning to transform into them like they’re some kind of Power Rangers, or something. It’s certainly a new twist on the gameplay known from previous games in the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise, a part of a combat system that looks absolutely wild in how densely packed the screen is with button prompts, character stats and numbers:

I loved Xenoblade 2 when it launched in 2017, where it earned a coveted 9/10 rating – “Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a phenomenal RPG. It’s a truly incredible piece of work that builds and expands on the series’ staples, while turning into a unique and heartfelt adventure all of its own.”

Of course, since then we’ve also had a fresh new remaster, and expansion to the defining Xenoblade Chronicles that first came out on Nintendo Wii all those years ago.
