Yomawari: Lost in the Dark Ghosts gets new trailer and a fall release date

Announced in May, Yomawari: Lost in the Dark now has an October 25 release date. The upcoming horror game from developer Nippon Ichi Software and publisher NIS America is the latest in the horror series. Previous titles in the series include Yomawari: Night Alone and Yomawari: Midnight Shadows. Along with this release date reveal came a new trailer, which you can watch below.

The official premise for the game is as follows: “A young girl awakens in a dark, unfamiliar forest with no recollection of how she got there. As she searches for the way out, she crosses paths with a mysterious individual who reveals to her that she’s been cursed. In order to break the curse, she needs to explore the streets of her town at night to seek out her lost memories. However, malevolent ghosts lurk within the shadows, and the girl must avoid them by running, hiding, and shutting her eyes if she hopes to survive long enough to break her curse.”

The more you know

For players who want to know more about the game’s characters and world, more information is available on the official website. Players will take control of a protagonist as she tries to find her missing memories that have taken the form of collectable mementos. The protagonist is customizable with changeable elements such as hairstyle, hair color, accessories, and clothes. A mysterious older girl appears to be a recurring character who appears in the protagonist’s memories. Finally, there’s a cute white cat called Mugi.

In gameplay, players will explore a dark town from an isometric viewpoint. You’ll have to use a flashlight and listen to the protagonist’s heartbeat to avoid deadly spirits and find key items. Closing your eyes is also a viable mechanic that will help to avoid the gaze of nearby spirits.

Yomawari: Lost in the Dark will release just in time for Halloween when it arrives on Steam on October 25.
