Highly rated action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana now has a release date on PS5. Adol Christin’s island adventure begins anew on the 15th November 2022 in North America, and the 30th November 2022 in Europe.
This PS5 port was first announced back in March of this year, and we still don’t really know what the re-release will add to the experience. Ys VIII was originally a 2016 PS Vita title, and then a PS4 version hit in 2017. The latter is perfectly playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility, and it’s often heavily discounted in PlayStation Store sales.
As such, we’re left wondering why this PS5 port exists if it doesn’t boast any obvious improvements — and there won’t be an upgrade path if you already own the game on PS4. Hopefully we hear more about this new version in the relatively near future.
