Star Ocean: The Divine Force has been announced for consoles and PC, as part of yesterday’s State of Play.
The next installment in Square Enix’s popular RPG franchise has been announced. Star Ocean: The Divine Force is the first major entry into the franchise since 2016’s Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, making it the sixth main installment overall. Developed by Square Enix and tri-Ace, the game is set to be a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, with a rich story that changes based on player choices.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force will feature a lineup of various playable characters, with the “Double Hero” system set to return. This allows the story to unfold from the perspective of each protagonist, one from an advanced civilization and the other from an underdeveloped planet.

According to the PlayStation blog post by Square Enix’s Sho Ishida, the game is set to feature the fastest and mightiest action to date. Players will be able to make a direct assault on enemies at high speeds, utilize skills to dispatch or confuse enemies, and freely fly around the world while looking for battles.
So far, the release date stands at 2022. With no specific date mentioned as of yet, players might have a bit longer to wait before they can get stuck into Star Ocean: The Divine Force. It looks like 2022 is shaping up to be a jam-packed year for video games.
The game is set to release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
