The Coyotes have signed a deal with gaming platform developer Rival to provide back-end technology that is now powering the NHL team’s new Coyotes Gaming initiative. The deal will see the Coyotes use Rival’s white-label technology to run its gaming platform that it launched last week with its first hosted tournament. After a 30-day subathon, Ludwig Ahgren has surpassed Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins‘ subscription record of 269,154 to become the most subscribed to channel on the platform. Ahgren’s subscription count is now over 271,000 at the time of writing. The content creator started his marathon stream March 14 and has been broadcasting, almost continuously, since. OverActive Media announces $40m investment, Montreal Canadiens joins ownership group

OverActive Media, the parent company of MAD Lions, Toronto Ultra and Toronto Defiant, has announced a second close to its private placement, with the firm receiving a total of over $40m (~£29.11m) in funding.   As a result of the investment, NHL’s Montreal Canadiens has joined OverActive Media’s ownership group. Moreover, Arizona Coyotes’ Phil Kessel and Washington Capitals’ Carl Hagelin have also become the latest in the esports company’s growing contingent of owners who are professional athletes. OverActive Media Closes $40M Investment, Montreal Canadiens Join Ownership Group 

Toronto-based esports company OverActive Media announced the second closing on their previously announced private placement, bringing the aggregate gross proceeds of their brokered and non-brokered financings to over $40M USD.   The parent company of three esports franchises, the Overwatch League’s Toronto Defiant, the Call of Duty League’s Toronto Ultra, and the MAD Lions, the current champions of the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), also announced that the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise Montreal Canadiens joined its ownership group as part of the funding.
