A few important events have taken place since we last brought you a monthly ranking update, most notably the playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 14 and IEM Fall. With the latter yet to finish there is still ground to be gained and lost, but more than enough has happened this month to see some major shifts in the top 30. Vitality crack the top three for the first time since February Here's a summary of our ranking for new readers: Our team ranking is based on teams' achievements over

OG find impressive form, Sinners crack top 20 in August team ranking

This month's ranking will likely see some of the least movement out of any edition of the HLTV Global Team Ranking, due to the fact that this edition comes after the player break. We have little new information to base any changes in ranking on. The majority of the new data that we do have comes from the ESL Pro League group stage, and being one of the most important events of the year, it vastly outweighs anything else that has taken place since we returned. We saw surprises and

Back to LAN: five key storylines of IEM Cologne

Last year’s unprecedented situation, the breakout of the coronavirus pandemic, left the CS:GO scene scrambling to find a way to keep the show going on despite severe restrictions on travel and hosting events. In no time, online play became the new standard, replacing LAN tournaments and arenas filled with people. In a different setting, new stars rose to the top, former champions fell to the wayside, and many fans were left wondering: "Would this have happened on LAN?" The long wait is finally over - IEM Cologne is here to

Team Ranking: June 2021

A mixed bag of tournaments took place in June. The month was dominated by IEM Summer and the conclusion of the BLAST Spring Series in the seasonal final, which saw Gambit extend their lead at No.1 after bringing home both titles before the second CIS Regional Major Ranking, StarLadder CIS RMR, had Natus Vincere edging out their biggest rival in the title decider. Outside of the competition at the very top, ESEA Premier Season 37 came to a close with Sinners clinching their second international title on the European side

ESL confirms that IEM Cologne will be a LAN event

ESL has confirmed that IEM Cologne 2021 will be an in-person event, making it the first elite Counter-Strike tournament to be held on LAN since the coronavirus pandemic began, in March 2020. The showpiece competition will take place from July 6-18 and will feature 24 of the world's best teams, with $1 million on offer. IEM Cologne will be played without an audience in a studio environment, as mentioned in the revised tournament calendar released by ESL in April. According to the new roadmap, ESL's first in-person event with an

Team Ranking: May 2021

Last month was all about the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments. These Major qualifying events, held globally, were responsible for some of the biggest changes in the top 30, including mousesports jumping to sixth, their highest ranking in exactly a year, and Akuma entering the top 20 on the back of a controversial third-place finish in EPIC League CIS. Despite the RMR setback, NAVI moved up to second thanks to their DH Masters Spring triumph But the RMRs were far from being the sole top-tier tournaments that were held in

Team Ranking: April 2021

The biggest ranking changes in April were influenced by a handful of events, the most important of which being ESL Pro League Season 13. Not only was the $750,000 tournament crucial to Gambit's rise to the top and Heroic's ten-spot jump to second, but it also helped teams like ENCE and Endpoint stabilize in the top 30. Hobbit reached the top of the rankings for the first time in his career BLAST Premier Spring Showdown and FunSpark ULTI 2020 Europe Finals were surprisingly competitive — the first featuring seven top-10

Team Ranking: October 2020

There was no shortage of action in October, which had several international competitions, including Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments in Europe, North America, Asia and the CIS. Heroic maintained their stranglehold on first place in the rankings by winning DreamHack Open Fall over Vitality, while FURIA moved to within one spot of the podium after beating 100 Thieves to the IEM New York title. Virtus.pro prevailed in the CIS region with an emphatic unbeaten run that saw them drop just two maps across seven series, taking advantage of Natus Vincere's

The Witcher Season 2: Henry Cavill Shares A Behind-The-Scenes Photo From The Production

Netflix's The Witcher is coming back for a second season, and production recently resumed--ahead of schedule--following a delay related to COVID-19. Lead actor Henry Cavill, who plays Geralt on the show, has now shared an image from the set. Posted to Instagram, the picture shows the actor in his makeup chair. There is nothing unusual about that, but Cavill shared that the costume department made a slight change to his outfit for the sophomore season. Cavill will no longer wear a bald cap beneath his ivory locks. This year, he's

As schools stay closed and summer camp seems more like a germscape than an escape, students are staying at home for the foreseeable future and have shifted learning to their living rooms. Now, Norwegian educational gaming company Kahoot — the popular platform with 1.3 billion active users and over 100 million games (most created by users themselves) — has raised a new round of funding of $28 million to keep up with demand.
