Apple announces its 2021 Apple Design Award winners

Apple incorporated the announcement of this year’s Apple Design Award winners into its virtual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) online event instead of waiting until the event had wrapped, like last year. Ahead of WWDC, Apple previewed the finalists, whose apps and games showcased a combination of technical achievement, design and ingenuity. This evening, Apple announced the winners across six new award categories. In each category, Apple selected one app and one game as the winner. In the Inclusivity category, winners supported people from a diversity of backgrounds, abilities and languages.

WWDC 2020 has seen some fantastic announcements arrive for anyone interested in games on iOS and iPadOS. This ranges from new software improvements that will elevate games and also massive boosts to controllers on Apple devices. Barring those, Apple Arcade is getting a long overdue update on the App Store and one of the greatest RPGs is coming to iPad soon. WWDC 2020 has revealed quite a bit of good stuff for iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and Apple Arcade already with a plethora of additions and enhancements coming not just to the OS but also to the App Store. After WWDC 2020’s opening presentation ended, the developer videos and plans for the week have revealed quite a bit of information for Apple’s plans this year on iPhone and iPad. In addition to all the new features coming to Apple Arcade, Apple also showcased a plethora of what iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 will bring this year. Both iPhone and iPad will see the App Store finally display whether a game has controller support. This is something Apple has tried to showcase for a few apps but iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 will hopefully indicate this across the board. WWDC 2020’s keynote showcased a few of the highlight features coming to iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. As is the norm with Apple’s keynotes, more features have been revealed by the official preview websites for both iOS and iPadOS. There are many additions and improvements to the core operating system but the changes coming to Apple Arcade are long overdue.
