It won the Excellence in Design award at the Independent Games Festival in 2011, and it currently has a \u201cvery positive\u201d user rating on Steam out of over 1,000 reviews. With this in mind, those who enjoy the idea of a simple, puzzle-based rogue-lite <a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcinvasion.com\/bullet-hell-wildcat-gun-machine-release-may\/\">dungeon crawler<\/a> will probably get their money\u2019s worth with the <em><a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/226620\/Desktop_Dungeons\/\">Special Edition<\/a>&nbsp;<\/em>on Steam. However, if this version of the game<em>&nbsp;<\/em>doesn\u2019t appeal to you for whatever reason, then perhaps the newly-announced remake dubbed <em>Desktop Dungeons: Rewind&nbsp;<\/em>will.<\/p>\n<p>From the press release, <em>Desktop Dungeons: Rewind&nbsp;<\/em>takes the simple, static art style of the original and reinterprets it using slightly more animated 3D models. That little bit of extra pizzazz to the visuals may appeal to those who found the original game a bit boring to look at.<\/p>\n<h2>Don\u2019t worry about performing perfectly<\/h2>\n<p>As the name implies, the major new feature of&nbsp;<em>Desktop Dungeons: Rewind&nbsp;<\/em>comes in the form of a rewind option. If players meet their demise for any reason, they can now reset to an earlier point in the dungeon to \u201ctry different strategies and defeat monsters in new ways.\u201d It\u2019s not exactly a revolutionary feature, but it should give players who would otherwise struggle with the original game a chance to progress without experiencing too much frustration. Of course, those who want a bit more of a challenge can presumably see how far they can progress without using this feature.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the new visuals and rewind feature, this upcoming&nbsp;<em>Desktop Dungeons&nbsp;<\/em>remake does not seem like it will fundamentally change the original experience all that much.
