- The Toronto Blue Jays are -250 home favorites to defeat the Oakland Athletics in the conclusion of their three-game American League series on Sunday, April 17
- Oakland’s 7-5 victory on Saturday brought an end to a seven-game losing streak at Toronto for the A’s
- See the Athletics vs Blue Jays odds ahead of their series finale
Now that the Oakland Athletics have won a game in Toronto over the Blue Jays, the sky could be the limit.
Prior to Saturday’s 7-5 victory over the Jays, the A’s hadn’t won a game in Toronto in nearly four years. But that win, a 9-2 verdict on May 20, 2018, wrapped up a sweep of a four-game series for Oakland.
If the Athletics beat the Blue Jays on Sunday, they’ll win their first series on Canadian soil since that day. Oddsmakers, though, aren’t favoring their chances. It’s Toronto that is the -250 betting choice to come out on top of Sunday’s clash. The Blue Jays are 6-1-1 in their last eight home series.

Sunday’s first pitch at the Rogers Centre is set for 1:37pm ET. The forecast is calling for cloudy skies, 4 mph wind and a temperature of 45 degrees. Not that it matters, mind you. They’ll just keep the stadium’s retractable roof closed and play in climate-controlled comfort.

While other members of Toronto’s vaunted starting rotation are off to rough starts, sophomore righthander Alek Manoah is picking up right where he left off during his rookie campaign.
His first start of the 2022 season saw Manoah work six shutout innings and strike out seven. He got the win as Toronto was blanking the New York Yankees 3-0 at Yankee Stadium.

Last season, Manoah finished eighth in AL ROY voting. He was 8-2 for a stellar .818 winning percentage. His 3.22 ERA was second-best among AL rookie starters. Now he’s tops among Toronto starters in the AL Cy Young odds.
One of his few forgettable outings came Sept. 3 at home against the Athletics. Manoah was roughed up for six earned runs in five innings. He didn’t figure in the decision as Toronto won 11-10.
A’s rookie righthander Adam Oller won’t be saving the tape of his big-league debut. Getting the start April 12 at Tampa Bay, the Rays pounded him for five hits and five earned runs.

Oller issued three walks and served up a pair of home runs, along with two doubles, finishing the day with an ERA of 33.75. When your ERA is higher than cab fare to the ballpark, that’s not a good thing.
Second baseman Tony Kemp is the only Athletic who has a hit against Manoah. He’s got one in three at-bats, but that lone base knock was a two-run homer. Elvis Andrus and Jed Lowrie are a combined 0-for-4.

No Blue Jays batter has ever faced Oller in a big-league game.
Athletics vs Blue Jays Prediction
Off to a mediocre 5-4 start, Toronto has proven to be a solid bounce back team. The Blue Jays are 3-0 straight up and 3-0 against the run line following a loss this season.
Oakland has also broken from the gate 5-4 but that’s somewhat more impressive considering that the Athletics are completing a season-opening 10-game road trip on Sunday.
The A’s won three of four at Tampa Bay. However, their only loss came in Oller’s start. It’s one of just two losses Oakland has suffered over the past seven games.
Oller is only in the Oakland rotation because Sean Manaea was traded to the San Diego Padres. He should prove a soft touch for the potent Toronto batting order.
Pick: Toronto Blue Jays runline -1.5 (-120)
