GODSENT have parted ways with their Young Gods academy roster and have subsequently withdrawn from the WePlay Academy League, resulting in all of their matches being forfeited just one day into the start of the season.
The Swedish organization first acquired their academy lineup in December, initially participating in a handful of ESEA Cash Cups before making their WePlay Academy League debut in season 4. There, the team missed out on playoffs after going 6-6 in their group and falling in the playoff decider bracket, losing to FURIA Academy to end their run.
Snowzin and company are now free agents
When contacted by HLTV.org regarding the decision to release the team, GODSENT CEO Henrik Denebrandt explained that it no longer made sense to house a Brazilian academy lineup in Europe for several months as the organization no longer has a Brazilian main roster, having sold off four players and two staff members to 00NATION at the end of May.
Denebrandt added that GODSENT made an attempt to submit a new team for the academy league but were declined by WePlay, a decision he says that he respects and takes full responsibility for.
The CEO also pointed towards a rebuild of their CS:GO division as a reason for parting with the Young Gods, stating that they want to coordinate their academy and main teams for “maximum output.” He then revealed that the organization are planning to acquire a new main roster soon, with “some interesting opportunities” currently on the table.
Update 22:30 : Dust2.com.br has reported that the Young Gods players intend to continue playing together with the exception of Carlos “venomzera” Eduardo, who has been linked by the publication with a move to Paquetá.
Young Gods were:
John “lineko” Lineck
Leonardo “n9xtz” Santos
João “Snowzin” Vinicius
Carlos “venomzera” Eduardo
Bruno “brn$” de Araújo
