Richmond vs. Carlton

image

I expect a close game. Out of Richmond’s 20 games over the last twelve months, 18 were settled by 1-39 points. The same can be said for 19 of Carlton’s 22 games. The last seven meetings between the two were settled by 1-39 points. Richmond are the favourite in this fixture but only 1 of their last 22 games against Carlton resulted in a 40+ victory for the Tigers. I would back both Richmond 1-39 at 2.35 (BlueBet) and Carlton 1-39 at 2.55 (BlueBet).

St Kilda vs. Essendon

image

St Kilda have won three of their last four with their sole defeat coming despite a valiant display against the league-leading Lions. Essendon meanwhile have lost seven of their last eight. At Marvel stadium this season St Kilda have gone 4-1 at the line while Essendon have gone 1-4 at the line. Essendon have a strong record of performing to expectations recently. The Bombers have gone 6-1 as the favourite and 2-13 as the underdog over the last twelve months. I would back St Kilda in the head-to-head at 1.30 (BlueBet, Picklebet).

Port Adelaide vs. Sydney

image

Port Adelaide have only the 15th highest scoring offence this season but they also boast the 4th best defensive average. Their average game total this season is 145 and that number has been trending downwards. The Power’s last six games have averaged just 131 total points with none of those games going above 161.0. The average total score at Adelaide Oval this season has been 156.3. Four of the last five home games for Port Adelaide against Sydney went under the total. I would back under 164.5 total points at 1.90 (BlueBet). BlueBet’s chosen total might not last. Every other bookmaker at the time of writing had set a total of 160.5 or 161.5.

GWS vs. Western Bulldogs

image

GWS have won four times this season but three of those wins were over sides ranked 15th or below. The Giants have yet to beat a team ranked above them this season. The Western Bulldogs have a 4-0 record as the away favourite against GWS. GWS have gone 1-4 both in the head-to-head and the line as the home underdog over the last twelve months. I would back the Western Bulldogs in the head-to-head at 1.85 (bet365, Picklebet, Unibet).

Gold Coast vs. Adelaide

image

The Gold Coast Suns have won four of their last five while Adelaide have lost five of their last six. The Crows have gone 1-8 away from home over the last 12 months. Adelaide have failed to cover the line in their last six games while Gold Coast have covered the line in their last three and over the last twelve months they have gone 3-0 at the line when installed as the favourite. I would back Gold Coast in the head-to-head at 1.21 (Picklebet).
