Alan Wake 2 is still planned to launch in 2023, Remedy says while detailing Control spin-off

Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind Control and Alan Wake, has released its latest business review. Alongside the usual revenue statistics, the report confirms that release windows of a few titles. In particular, it confirms that Alan Wake 2 is still set for a 2023 release, and gives updates on the developer’s other projects.

The report states that “Alan Wake 2 is in the full production stage and the game will be launched as planned in 2023.” Since most AAA games get hit with delays these days, it’s good to see that Alan Wake 2 is still on track. Alan Wake Remastered also likely improved the size and potential of the series’ fanbase. So there’s plenty of excitement going around for its sequel. Beyond that, there’s no more information for Alan Wake 2 here. But since 2023 isn’t far away, we should hopefully hear more soon.

Alan Wake 2 is among a bunch of projects

Besides Alan Wake 2 and its 2023 release window, the report sheds light on some other projects. Codename Condor, the next project set in the Control series, was briefly mentioned. However, this game seems to be in a very early “proof-of-concept stage.” It’s unlikely that we’ll see an official reveal anytime soon. But the report does mention a “cooperative player experience,” which could lead to an interesting game. Codename Heron is a “bigger-budget Control game” and could likely be a proper sequel to the first game. This is also in an early stage of development, and we’re likely to not hear about it for a while.

That’s not all that Remedy Entertainment is currently developing either. In fact, earlier this year the developer announced remakes for Max Payne and its sequel. There’s also Vanguard, a free-to-play game that’ll be co-published with Tencent. These are both still in early development, so again, we’ll not hear about them for a bit.

It’s clear that the developer will be busy for quite some time. But Alan Wake 2 is right on the horizon in 2023. And judging by this report, there’s plenty to look forward to afterward.
