Apex Legends & FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH Crossover Event Coming January 9

Two gaming powerhouses will come together for the Apex Legends & FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH Event in Apex Legends on January 9.

A three-week event, the FINAL FANTASY VII Takeover of Apex Legends will serve as a temporary replacement of Apex Legends’ unranked battle royale mode. During this time, players will be able to wield the Buster Sword R2R5 as they dash, block bullets, and unleash a powerful Limit Break.

This update also brings with it new effects in the form of Materia Hop-Ups. These grant benefits like area-of-effect (AOE) lightning and HP Absorption, along with a SOLDIER Nessie to fight by players’ sides.

New skins will also make their way to the Outlands as part of this update. Choices include a moogle inspired skin for Wattson and iconic skins for Wraith and Crypto. Each one can be bought with Apex Coins, and are each part of 36 limited-time FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH-themed cosmetics.

From there, players will be able to collect them by purchasing Event packs to obtain items from the knockout pool, including the Mythic Buster Sword R5. This is especially important, as it is the first Mythic cosmetic that can be equipped by any Legend.

The upcoming release of FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH will be produced by Yoshinori Kitase and directed by Naoki Hamaguchi, Motomu Toriyama, and Tetsuya Nomura. The title will release for the PlayStation 5 next month, on February 29.
