Ascendant Infinity Gets First Gameplay Trailer, Featuring Neon-Drenched, ’80s-Infused Mayhem

PlayFusion has released the first gameplay trailer for Ascendant Infinity, an upcoming squad-based competitive shooter in which teams need to contend in battlegrounds that are constantly changing and evolving. The studio refers to this type of game as an “adaption shooter,” marketing Ascendant Infinity as the first of its kind.

The gameplay trailer showcases how Ascendant Infinity works in practice, with four teams of three all fighting over the same objective–find, protect, and extract biocores–but each match changes the flow of combat by adjusting the landscape of the map, the layout of extraction points, and the environmental threats that players have to contend with.

In the trailer, you can see teams having to fight off dangerous monsters who throw already frantic firefights into chaos, collected biocores transforming players into shirtless hulking elementals, and flame-spewing tanks. There’s even a moment where a player find a hidden lab and dons a helmet that transfers their consciousness into a nearby creature.

It’s still unclear just how much of this can change match-to-match and how many permutations of randomness Ascendant Infinity is going to have, but we should be able to see for ourselves in the near future as a press release advertises that a closed beta for the game is “coming soon.”

Ascendant Infinity is launching on PC, releasing on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
